Who does this?:(

At least half of my guests groups that come for weddings leave me “presents” like that. I have the facial wipes on the bathroom vanities, too.

On that note, my guest group of 5 women and one man that checked out on Jan 25 were here for a quinceañera and were the second group to ever use the facial wipes as far as I can tell. I was so happy to see makeup covered wipes in the waste bins and relatively clean towels and washcloths hanging in the bathrooms.

We had some women show up with so much makeup on they clogged the shower drain! But nothing else to report 90 couples… Everything still white:) We do have wipes and dark color wash cloths available, but they don’t get used very much.

I now provide gray washcloths in a basket with the attached sign. I found a package of 10 for $10. (I never actually charge for damaged towels) but this has cut my damage loss to about 3 towels a year now.

The answer to the question, who does this?

Entitled people that’s who. I just threw out a white washcloth, the black one with MakeUp embroidered on it still folded in the same spot it was before the guest arrived.

You have an overabundance of rags already? At least when I throw out a towel or washcloth I know it’s ruined with hazardous waste, oil based paint, etc.

I hear ya, if it was just one washcloth, less than a dollar to throw out it would be easier for me to let it go. That mess is just IDGAF entitled. I would not want that person staying with me.

Review them honestly.

I do not recommend guest. Guest was inconsiderate and ruined several white towels with makeup stains.

1 star for cleanliness.
thumbs down

I have moved to microfiber for cleaning. The same guests actually ruined both washcloths that were out, the other one had biological stains that got set in the dryer. At about 60 cents a washcloth I am not inclined to spend much time on them, and I really do not want to see them again.

A side note:

I am, in my side job (lo)l a Ballroom dancer and instructor. When my students and friends go to compete in the largest competition in the world, the Blackpool Dance Festival in Blackpool, England, they are always surprised when their hotel room sheets and towels have self tanner stains all over them. Apparently, the hoteliers and B&Bs there watch the schedules of their guests and the events, and put out those sheets and towels for those guests. Rest of the year, if you stay at that location, you get clean towels and sheets. It’s sort of a ‘rite of passage’ to recoil and then smile that you are in the ‘in crowd’.

Maybe one solution might be to keep a record of the offending guests you have and make sure that if they return that you provide them with pre-stained stuff? Probably a bad idea, but might be satisfying to the host lol…

I put out the microfiber sheets and tan towels when I know the PCT hikers are staying. They have usually been on the trail a few days at least and white sheets and towels would be a mistake. I also pulled the plug on the tub after the first hiker took a bath.

I love the hikers all in all, I just try and foresee the issues and adapt.

What is PCT? 202020022020

Now that is fascinating! Does the competition take place at the Tower Ballroom? I am irrationally fond of Blackpool.

Amazing how Rolf has been posting here for years and this never came to our notice before. I love watching ballroom dancing but have no talent for dancing myself.

I’m exactly the same. But isn’t it fascinating to learn about someones ‘other life’?

I worked in cosmetic sales. Humph! First you use a cleanser to get the surface stuff off (baby oil, Ponds, and some ridiculous expensive stuff will do. Tissue off. Then eye makeup remover. Then a saponated cleanser. Dove is great.

If you rub your eyes on a towel with heavy makeup you will lose your contacts, eyelash extensions, and wake up looking like Ggodzilla.

I really don’t get why people are using dry towels to clean their make up off! The first thing that strikes me is that they are just grinding the make-up into their pores! Yuk. What happened to using soap and water FIRST?

Exactly. This is what makes no sense to me. But then… many women who wear a lot of make-up have very bad skin. Doesn’t matter how much they put on, you can still see the pimples etc, Maybe somebody should tell them how to wash/cleanse properly? Not sure how well that would go down in an Airbnb message, though…

In 2 years I’ve only had 3 white washcloths get this treatment.

My only problem with that were the 3 couples attending a gay wedding. Everything was neat and clean when they departed but it took my robovac about a month to get all the glitter out of the area rugs.
