[Updated JAN 2024] Tried and Recommended Products for Airbnb Hosts

A lot of brands of smart locks integrate just fine with Airbnb reservation data.

Maybe it did ā€˜at one point’, but in 2022 it is integrated with virtually every brand and manufacturer and works for any smart lock.

Airbnb? What is this? Where do I find it? I have a Qwikset smart deadbolt that I program remotely, but I have to do it myself for each guest. If there is a way I can have the lock update itself based on ABB booking data, that would be pretty cool.

Check your Qwikset online instructions. Airbnb has an api the locks connect through. But, you usually have to initiate the setup through the Locks software.

I use Yale that connect through August. To be honest, I dont trust it. The August system uses random codes. I prefer to set them up manually using a portion of the guests phone number.

But, yes, most locks that allow remote programming have the ability to connect automatically with Airbnb through the lock software.

Great list, thank you for posting and keeping it up to date. I just purchased a few of these Anker 20W USB C Power Strip, 321 Power Strip with 3 Outlets and USB C Charging for iPhone 14/13 Series, 5 ft Extension Cord, Power Delivery, for Dorm Rooms,Home Office, Cruise Ship Travel, TUV Listed for each bedroom: Amazon.com and they are great. Especially the new USB C port.

Yes. We use these in each bedroom, so no more crawling around for outlets:

I now use $79 Amazon Echoshow 8 for this. I put a welcome board on the Echo Show; I can add additional photos if the guest would like. Or I could put local sites in a slideshow but have not done that (yet?).

Is there a way on this unit to disable Alexa and, is there a way to make this unit ā€œdumbā€? I would like to have something like this in my three adjacent private rooms to be able to display, welcome, information, etc. I’m wondering if I can turn off the sound for instance, so that people aren’t blasting music at 3 AM in the room. I love the functionality of these devices, but I’m not sure if I have these units in adjacent bedrooms is a good idea.

I’m sorry but I don’t know. Next time I’m with my computer consultant I will ask.

I do put this on its own email so that every time there is a delivery for me it is not announced on the screen. I also put tape on its camera as well as turn the slider to turn off the camera. I understand that these are different issues than you are asking.

However, doing my own research just now, I found this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GS2MNUFK2SBFJPCX

It looks like you can prevent Alexa from playing music by enabling a sleep timer but I would think an experienced user can over-ride that.

There’s probably a way to stop Alexa from playing music altogether but I don’t see a way that a user couldn’t over-ride.

Hello and thank you for all of the great advice and tips. Unfornately I do not see any way to purchase the items you mention, no link or in some cases, not even the name of the item you have mentioned. What am I missing? Thanks.

This topic includes a number of names and links.

To which posts are you referring?

The ā€œtried and Recommended Products for Airbnb Hosts.ā€ For instance one of the bullets says " Tough Grimy/Greasy surfaces (and you’re lazy)

Not all hosts will have a power drill handy but if you do, then this is a good one for you. It attaches to a power drill and it makes cleaning super easy. I don’t have one personally but I’ve seen how handy it is at cleaning a grill…just make sure you don’t use full power when using detergent." Which attachment is it talking about?

It’s a drill brush attachment; a brush that attaches to a drill. The link was included (click on the picture); it worked for me, leading me to: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRLZ43B/ref=as_sl_pc_qf_sp_asin_til?tag=airhostsforum-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=0b2ebe72284c7f68bb3f4743bbf81561&creativeASIN=B01MRLZ43B

I don’t have pictures, maybe that is the problem.

I didn’t copy the picture but for that post the link was the picture.

So maybe this is a browser issue for you. You might want to Google ā€˜why does browser not show images’. Do you see the picture below?

thanks. I will work through troubleshooting but I have not had this issue on other platforms and forums.

If you don’t see that ā€˜+ New Topic’ button you might want to message one of the moderators (e.g., @jaquo ) to request that permission.
