I realized it when working with medical devices with battery operated real time location tags. Some of the devices were stored in an unmonitored area (SMH—storing tagged devices where you couldn’t track them). The RTLS tracker batteries depleted quickly while waiting on connecting to the system because it takes energy to wait on receiving/sending a signal.

Battery operated candles same but different.

My beloved 86 year old Dad had been listening to my anti-masker cousin (can’t choose family) And asked if it was true

Me (ranting): That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. As a floor nurse when I had TB or pneumonia patients I wore a mask 12 hours or more. Libby (RN friend) works extra shifts doing screenings & wears a mask the entire shift. If we can do it for 12 hours, there is no excuse for not wearing one for an hour when you buy groceries.

Dad (very quietly, calmly): I can tell you feel strongly about this one…

Hopefully after the election things will simmer down.

Socialist redneck is a contradiction of terms. Around here they are terrified of Biden’s “social-istic (not my words) agenda”

Hopefully in 18 months we in USA will be looking for things to talk about. Currently everything is about Trump and Covid-19. I’m tired of those topics.

Love him or hate him, I gotta give Trump credit for being able to occupy everyone’s conversations. Few can do that

I find it totally offensive that a post used to help ABB hosts is nothing but a liberal, Trump bashing, intolerant forum. I used to come here to help find solutions to guest problems. I don’t care what your politics are. I don’t care if you are ardent Biden supporters and can’t wait to see a socialist government. Keep it to yourself and stick to the topic

In reality you just don’t want to be exposed to viewpoints you disagree with. Just scroll past the posts you don’t like. Everything is political, all of Trump’s mistakes are relevant to all of us and wishing it wasn’t so doesn’t change it.

Edit to add: relevant to us as hosts. The travel business has changed for everyone.

That’s for the moderators to say what is and is not allowed to be discussed here, not you. I never understand how forum users think they get to dictate what other users can post.
You’re fully capable of skimming past posts which “offend” you. If you don’t want to do that, no one is forcing you to participate in this forum.

We try, imperfectly no doubt, to follow the forum guidelines. I’ve been here 5 years and invariably the going off topic is one of the most endearing/most maddening things. Whether it’s politics or duvets, we go off topic a lot. People who want a dry, strict, politically lacking forum have the Airbnb Community Center. Or yeah, they are welcome to start their own forum or facebook group.

We don’t delete most posts we find objectionable but what we aren’t going to do is be a haven for “alternative facts” aka lies, or for racism.

I knew this would cause a personal attack. So to clear up:
I don’t read this forum for political ideologies, I read it for help and advice on ABB issues.
I don’t care what anyone’s political leanings are, but there is a time and place. If you want to Trump or Biden bash go to a forum for that.
I am not a person so ingrained in my beliefs that I don’t listen to other opinions and viewpoints.
I am sure that all of you will again find something nasty to say about me or my comments, so go for it. If thats what it takes to make you feel good, have at it
