Ahhhhh okay that explains it, I’d be raising pricing too!
I’m scared off by the language on the Russia consulate page. If you overstay your visa you can be “detained.” What if something g went wrong with the frrry?
Gonna have to research how to get a visa. I was looking at Januatym… Wonder if you have to buy flights first?
not to worry )…the ferry (visa free 72 hours) is a regular route used by many…works like clockwork…even organized tours…you’ll be surprised how normal it is here - but it helps if you like mayonnaise…goes into a lot of dishes…))…and beetroot )
I wouldn’t book the flight first. Wait until you have the visa. I had found this site previously. My wife and I want to see more than St. Petersburg so we’ll have to get a visa.

yes lots to see - St Petersburg, then Moscow and all the golden ring cities (can be done on a cruise boat)…or airbnb )…the trans-siberian is great too. woudl still do it in summer though .
In general, it’s recommended that US citizens apply for 3-year multiple business, private, humanitarian and tourist visas (please have a look at the correspondent visa type information).
The following documents should be submitted in order to obtain a visa according to its category:
- Completed visa application signed by the Applicant only. Incomplete visa application forms shall not be processed.
Application available online at http://visa.kdmid.ru
All questions in the application form should be answered. If a question is not applicable to the applicant, he should put “N/A”.
Each application form must be signed by the visa applicant personally. - Valid national passport (original only and it should have at least two clear visa pages). It must be valid no less than six months after the visa expiration date. Holders of travel documents such us: Permit to Re-Enter the United States of America, Travel Document, etc. must submit valid Permanent Resident Card (an original and a copy).
- One picture of an applicant. Russian visa photo specifications.
- Money Order or Certified Bank Check made out to the Russian Consulate for visa processing. Please note that we do not accept cash, credit or debit cards, personal or company checks.
- Invitation to Russia from a host person or organisation.
there are a few but this one for example:
Your passport must be valid for minimum 6 months after exit date from Russia
You may not stay ashore more than 72 hours
72 hour Visa Free apples to all nationalities including those holding valid visa for Finland.
they don’t make it easy!
You do have a few to many photos of the living areas - I tend to stick to one per space. I enjoyed your pictures of St Petersburg and would love to visit. I include tourist photos as well in my listing such as the best beaches to visit, a decent bar to watch the sunset into the sea, etc. I include comments to match. Lots of my guests have mentioned these pictures in the positive. I also use my photos to highlight things that I want guests to be fully aware of such as my enormous dogs - the dog picture also gets me quite a lot of bookings too
I presume that depends on who one is walking with- movie Gorky Park comes to mind
What’s this about needing an invitation from someone in Russia?
It’s also just a couple of hours on the train to Helsinki from SpB - Lots of my guests do a combo tour
An invitation from someone in Russia could be the hardest part! Maybe our new Russian friend on here could help us with that.
Here’s some tours available; https://www.tripadvisor.com.sg/Travel_Guide-g298507-St_Petersburg_Northwestern_District.html
An invitation - it’s a bit of a misnomer really but what it is, is an official document that contains some of your personal details, and a provisional itinerary of your trip dates and cities you may visit. Pretty easy to order one up on line.
Your profile picture is cut by airbnb, the castle at the back is gone so just roof tops and no nice background. No 32 the snow/night time might look better.
Adjust your photo size so it captures the whole vista
The ‘White Nights’ time is June,July so its an incredibly peaky demand time.
Plus this year it’s the FIFA World Cup. Pity team USA USA were eliminated by mighty Trinidad though, there was hardly a dry eye on Nevsky Prospect that night
