to get an official clarification and approval of specifics like this, I had written dialogue with Airbnb.
Truer words were never spoken. If anyone perusing this forum and lurking doesn’t learn about Air, hosting, duvet covers, folding fitted sheets, tea kettle, cooking soup in said kettles, IB… they are purposely not learning.
We all started out posting those first posts to vent and got schooled. The tough love on this group has made me a better host and I hope even a better person.
Ick. Guest just left. Have the week before someone else shows up. Dreading the long dark hair in the shower drain…
To tell the truth, that has never bothered me the way it seems to gross out most hosts who do their own cleaning.
I’ve always had fairly long hair that sheds a lot, and raised 3 daughters, all of whom had long hair at some point, so I got used to it a long time ago.
There’s actually very few things that gross me out.
Um… my OH used to say that, before she started living with me

Do you host at all? Have you ever? It sure does not sound that way.
.
In any case, we do not know of any host who “treats it like a hobby”. There are certainly hosts who are less experienced or choose to learn as they go, rather than being pro-active and diligent. They are more likely to learn the hard way and so be it.
.
The same applies to many small businesses. This does not mean that they think of it as a mere hobby, even if they have a single stay or home share. It’s always a business. Just like any small business owner will have something to gripe about.
Actually that’s absolutely not true if you’re vaccinated we still don’t know if you can still pass on the virus and we don’t know how long you will be protected for.
You should still continue distancing, wearing a mask and washing your hands-using anti-vac gel.
I’m not sure it’s true to say back in the 60’s you were the ‘best educated country in the world’
Didn’t you still have segregation in your schools and you had to pay for your university education limiting those who could study to only those who could afford it ?
Also there was huge issues with literacy levels in the US in the 60s particularly amongst rural poor and ethnic minorities
Yes we do know you can’t pass it on all you have to do is read the CDC reports on the vaccines, where are you getting your guidance?
Zero need for a mask and hand washing never did a single thing for anyone, the CDC long ago reported that there is absolutely no evidence of a single covid case traced to a transfer of the virus from a surface or from a hand, over and over again they have stated the virus is only transferred airborne through the respiratory tract.
Everybody knows that the Airbnb covid cleaning protocols are just a dog and pony show, even the CDC says so “Disinfecting surfaces to prevent Covid often all for show, CDC advises.”
You are clearly misinformed. The vaccines do not necessarily prevent you from becoming infected, and some vaccinated people have still contracted Covid. The vaccines keep you from getting really sick. If you can still contract it, you can still infect others.
But you are obviously someone who thinks they are always right and can’t accept that they might not be.
@Notahost , it’s worth remembering that this is an international forum. Helsi is not a US host. People from outside the US may or may not consider the CDC to be their authority on COVID-19.
What a load of bollocks.
Fully vaccinated people have a reduced risk of transmitting SARS-CoV-2 to unvaccinated people.

There is a chance you might still get or spread COVID-19 even if you have a vaccine, so it’s important to continue to follow all social distancing guidance.

I get my ‘guidance’ from our National Health Service here in the UK where I’ve been working on our Covid programmes including the roll out vaccination programme since March 2020 @Notahost
All I can say is you must have misunderstood what you read
You are also completely wrong about the use of masks and hand washing . They are key prevention tools we use against all sorts of infectious diseases not just Covid . l
I don’t care either.
But we have to ask our guest for “proof of minimal epidemic risk”. So they either have to be tested, vaccinated or cured.
Also we are legally allowed to supervise a COVID test. I have a few dozen in a box behind my desk.
I will not get vaccinated, I do not see the reason. I have been infected already with only mild symptoms…. twice. I will take the risk on a 3rd time.
Seriously? You are making all of OUR lives less safe:

Rolf, I agree with you. Chris is wrong.
Delta variant might make a lot of people wrong, permanently. Or maybe not. Evolution’s work is slow and not always in the direction we expect.
You are vaccinated so why do you care?
You know the answer to that. Now you’re just trolling.
What a load of bollocks, as @JohnF would say. @Rolf is correct - you’re a walking Typhoid Mary - spreading germs and potentially death in your wake. Long-term effects from Covid are still being studied and we won’t know the damage to hearts, lungs, brains, and bodies for years.
I’ve had Covid 3 times and have been roundly shamed for not being careful enough. Believe me, I have followed CDC protocols for masks, hand washing, sanitizers, etc. and shut down my AirBnB in March of last year.
The second time I got it I was gravely ill for 3 months. The third time scared the crap out of me and I got vaccinated 2 weeks later after a negative test.
I’ll get vaccinated every 6 months if I have to just to stay on this side of the dirt and to not be a walking, selfish menace to anyone with a compromised immune system. Heck - to anyone - since it’s killing indiscriminately.
I care about others. Why do you NOT care?
