Preferring vaccinated guests -what airbnb says

More terms like this please. LOL! Awesome.

Not necessarily @Sarah027 most people know children are not being vaccinated (although under consideration here for 10+ in the autumn).

So presumably the vaccination only requirement would apply to the adults.

I’m getting a spate of reservations from Asian (going by names) guests. Maybe a coincidence, but I’m wondering if they feel safer from experiencing hate/discrimination by staying at my place instead of a hotel. I hope not, that’s horrible.

I’m using it sarcastically. The radical right in this country coined the term to refer to people who talk a good game with their words. Things like asking what pronoun someone prefers or saying Black lives matter is “virtue signaling” to them.

In my listing I have a number of things to indicate to a prospective guest that I’m a socialist-leaning, left wing, do-good, bleeding heart, woke (the labels change over the decades but the concept is old) person and if they are a Trump supporter they should stay away.

Yeah, the Trump effigy with the K Bar knife through its head on top of the bookcase is a right giveaway…

Virtue signalling - Wikipedia.

I go for the yard and window signage.Yes, I’m THAT person in the neighborhood.

One Halloween, a young person of color came trick or treating, and commented “I see your equality signs everyday on my way to school.”

I’m sure he wondered why the old lady handing him the candy bar starting tearing up.

I thought this was an enterprising approach:

The inverse of above;

Good to know upfront so that I can avoid his restaurant when I’m in his town later this summer.

Thanks for your information. I host a suite in my home, and have always cleaned thoroughly with gloves and a mask as I prefer to not inhale the cleaners. I use washable cloths to clean, I am short term only. As you say, this is not a new thing, and I believe we should follow these protocols all the time. Colds, flu and GI infections are no fun, right?

It sounds like you are politicizing things for no reason. Vaccinated or not, odds are, your tenants would likely not cause the next guest to contract Covid. If you want to cut the number of prospective clients in half, just to make a political statement, then you are doing the right thing. I hope it makes you feel good about yourself. I am fully vaccinated. Maybe don’t stoop to the level of anti-vaxers just to prove a point

Preferring people who are vaccinated is not a political statement - except for Faux news folks… because only someone who thinks that safeguarding himself, his guests, and his family from everything from illness and death to the mundane ‘overstayers’ who contract Covid is somehow part of a political maneuver. Wanting others to be safe is virtuous, btw… and I signal that all the time, because that is what good people do.

It’s a pandemic with 100s of thousands of lives lost. It’s probably the most significant event of your lifetime. That’s not “no reason” to some of us.

Yes, that’s me.

But only if the cat is vaccinated?!

If they are staying in a room in your house, then you are correct

There is nothing whatsoever political about a host saying they prefer vaccinated guests. It’s a health issue, not a political issue, no matter how many people want to characterize it like that. And those who do regard it as political are the self-same people who have been responsible for spreading the virus around.

I’m the person that cleans the room in my house where they are staying. Political statement or not, I really don’t want to host anti-vaxers. Suppose they were infected and then left the virus for me or the next guests.

Anti-vxxers? Nope. I only listen to Epidemiologists or professionals in the virus field - people who are ‘google experts’, people who ‘just figured it out’, people who think that vaccines are ‘filled with unknowns’ are all folks who are those who will make so many bad decisions that will affect me, the host. They will arbitrarily decide that my rules are to be ‘interpreted’ rather than followed, for example.

Nope, nope, nope…

If you’re vaccinated therw is nothing to worry about, also the CDC and the who said long ago there is zero chance of contacting anything via a surface, the virus is spread airborne, all that cleaning BSis just Airbnb PR.
