Ewwwww that stuff is horrendous. SO hard to get our of anything. I would prefer tree sap. I’m so sorry you had that happen!
@cheena39 You should change the “no smoking” to “no smoking or vaping” in your rules, because no one is breaking a no smoking rule by vaping. Vaping isn’t smoking- there is no smoke involved, no flame, no heat, it’s water vapor. Just because someone puts it in their mouth and inhales doesn’t mean it’s smoking, anymore than a child sucking on a straw is smoking.
Of course they do. All the time. People often travel to do things they can not where they live, legal and otherwise.
Honestly, some of your notions …
It isn’t a notion. I’ve been around pot smokers since the 60’s- hundreds, if not thousands of them. It wasn’t legal. They all managed to find it or grow it, and smoke it. They didn’t need to travel somewhere “legal” to do so.
Are you being obtuse on purpose?
The notion was your quoted statement which is incorrect. Google it. People travel all the time to do things that are not legal where they live, including and not limited to marajana, etc.
This isn’t a new thing …
Hello. Have you ever heard of Amsterdam?
No, I’ve never heard of Amsterdam, I’ve been living under a rock for the past 60 years.
People thought it was cool to go to Amsterdam because you could sit around and smoke pot in cafes and such. They didn’t go because they’d never smoked pot before or were scared to smoke it where they lived simply because it wasn’t legal.
Google “history drug tourism”. Your personal belief and assertion that that it has never and does not exist does not change reality …
Midnight Express was not fiction …
You’re throwing out your personal opinion/experience like it’s gospel for the other 7.8 Billion people on the planet.
I smoked my first joint in the Netherlands, so put that in your proverbial pipe.
I don’t know where you live, but here in the Midwest legality definitely had an influence. It was very under wraps before legalization, and I see it everywhere now. These same people that are happy to take advantage of the new legal status refuse to risk crossing the border to Canada (even though it’s legal on both sides of the bridge, crossing with pot is verboten) and avoid traveling through prohibition states.
People in the midwest ARE traveling to IL or MI to visit legal dispensaries. There is a market for pot tourism, but it’ll have an expiration date as more states legalize.
Actually the movie definitely was, and a lot of Billy Hayes original book was at best “inaccurate”.
Billy Hayes was a drug smuggler, very different to a drug tourist. Nice bloke by the way, appeared to be genuinely remorseful when he came back for a visit about ten or twelve years ago; but irrespective, he was still just another drug smuggler who got caught.
JF
you missed the point entirely.
No, actually, you bungled up the point
Hmmmm … I am really confused. “Drug Smuggler”? What is that? Apparently, no one travels anywhere to get or use drugs. Muddy said so. Weren’t you paying attention?
Sure they do. It is big business in some places.
And there is even a mention of Airbnb in the second article:
Because consumption in public is illegal, rentals like Airbnb include “420 friendly” in descriptions for marijuana tourists, and marijuana tourism rental specialists have sprung up to meet demand.
Careful … facts don’t apply here …
Her next reply will probably be something like “Wikipedia is no proof at all”
I was just curious about how other hosts felt about pot smoking. I allow it but I’m not crazy about.
Just saw him on Locked Up Abroad the other day and got to hear the real story first hand. Having seen that movie as edited for TV many times when I was a kid, it was a fascinating episode to watch.
I home share and added a “please be considerate in the use of chemicallly- scented products…” house rule. It seems to have helped. Only 2-3 “problems” in as many years
I always get a kick out of the use of the word “chemical” to describe things.
… and I just got a kick out of the fact Billy Hayes is now 74 years old and still making money off the back of his wee adventure in Turkey!
