How many towels do you provide?

I’ve used air bnb as a guest for like 5 times and have always only been provided with a single bath towel. As a guy, a single towel for one or two nights does not bother me at all, but I’ve met two middle aged couples and they have both requested more towels. It doesn’t really bother me to supply an extra towel but I’ve recently stopped buying white ones because women keep rubbing makeup off it and some of these towels are in the bin after a single use, which is becoming very expensive.

I supply a bath sheet, hand towel, and a wash cloth. There are more towels available on shelves in the bathroom. [I always hold enough back to take care of the next guest group.] I also provide white makeup towels and makeup removers. I actually mention this to the few women who arrive with makeup on their faces. Never had any makeup on the better towels. [:: knick on wood::]

I’ve stayed at “entire place” AirBNB rentals around 10 times and we’ve always had more towels than we could use for 2 adults, 2 kids. (we each use a new towel every 3 days).

I’d guess that price point is a big factor. I usually provide 2 bath towels (and an extra hand towels and 2 washcloths) per person for up to 4 nights. If a couple only stays 2 nights, I don’t stress if there’s only one extra bath towel in the closet with 2 hanging in the bathroom but i try to provide one extra if it’s easy. They’re not all usually used.

Our rental sleeps two people so for every couple I leave three bath towels, three hand towels and four wash cloths - no matter how long they are staying. I tell them to ask me for more if needed but they rarely do.

I’ve always used white and I think I’ve only had one or two wash cloths damaged to such an extent that they could be no longer used. (I soak them in Oxyclean before washing). I don’t bin them though - I use them as cleaning cloths.

One bath towel per person. If one person is staying more than a night I leave two. Two people staying three nights I’d leave 4. But I’m onsite at my attached guest room and they can have all the towels they want. Not only has no one requested more, often the ones that left aren’t used.

For two people staying 2 or 3 nights (which seems to be our average) we leave either two or three sets (one each bath, hand and washcloth) on the shelving in the bathroom. Then in the hall closet I usually leave 2 additional bath towels, a stack of hand towels and a stack of washcloths. People rarely even use all the towels on the rack. We also use Oxiclean, all white everything, and so far have only lost one bath towel that got singed, and a washcloth or two. My husband has become a laundry guru and I think he enjoys the challenge of getting everything bright white!!!

Oh and I forgot to mention, the singed towel (guest hung it in front of a heater) was a very nice, high quality towel. So now I’m using it!!! LOL. Only one edge is burned.

I have a 3-ni. minimum, 2 person maximum and try to limit the max stay at 8 ni. Each person is provided with two complete sets of towels…plus an extra bath towel they can fight over.

In addition, there are three dark colored facecloths rolled up and stacked in a pyramid in a wire basket for the make-up wearer. An extra set of sheets, etc. is in the closet if the guest wants a change-out.

I remind guests in the printed “Welcome” letter that VR’s are self-catering and if they want to do laundry during their stay, there are coin-operated machines at the end of the hall. They are pretty much on their own.

For the rare instance where a guest stays longer than a week, I offer a complimentary towel and linen exchange but they have to contact the housecleaner and make arrangements directly with her. (That extra service is on my nickel so I don’t really make it easy for them.)

I give each guest one bath towel and one washcloth. If they have long hair I give them an extra bath towel for their hair. I tell each guest that they are welcome to fresh towels any time they like. All they have to do is let me know.

How often do you find that they do so? I do the same but it’s very rarely that they do ask.

It’s the same with me. Guests rarely ask for fresh towels. On about the third day we ask if they’d like fresh towels. Again, only a few take us up on the offer.

I let guests help themselves, since I can’t be bothered to keep track of the number of guests for each booking and then hide “excess” towels, and I don’t have a lockable closet anywhere in the apartment anyway. There are about 10-12 bath towels in total (I don’t inventory them or anything) and my place sleeps up to 6 people. If a group wants to use extra towels it doesn’t really matter; an extra load of laundry isn’t that much hassle for my cleaner to justify policing the quantity of towels used.

When I’ve traveled as a guest I find it stingy when hosts only leave one towel per guest, as my wife uses two bath towels when she washes her hair. It’s also nice to have an extra just in case it’s necessary. Hosts also often seem to forget that children and babies require towels too!

I leave out one bath towel, one hand towel, and one wash cloth per guest. During the house tour, I point out that there are extra bath towels (four) in a basket under the sink. Guests sometimes use an extra towel, but (shockingly) no one has used them all–even guests who have spent 10 days with us. We have a max of three guests, but usually have two.

I provide one hand towel and one bath towel per guest for every 2 nights. I usually stock up the apartment to last for 4 nights. For longer stays I pick up the used towels on the 5th day and supply guests with fresh towels. I also started providing beach towels one per guest, these I replace on the 5th day.

I’m surprised at the number of hosts who don’t give a second bath towel to long haired guests. When I had long hair, it was uncomfortable to dry off with one towel. If I used it for my body first, I had water streaming down my back from my hair. If I used it for my hair first, it was too wet to dry my body.

One of the reasons that there are extra towels of all sizes on my shelves in the room. Back when my hair was long and thick, one towels was never sufficient, though I could make do with a bath and hand towels combination.

One set per guest (bath, hand, and washcloth), an extra set per guest in the bathroom closet. And if they’re staying longer than 5 days I offer to exchange more towels.

I know that there are some hosts who say that they would never leave bathrobes for guests and for years, I would have agreed. But recently we have started leaving two fluffy white bathrobes in the rental and towel use has gone down considerably. I think people are just wearing the robes so that they can drip-dry.

And the great thing is that so far, they have never been stained and are really easy to launder.

I leave 3 regular size towels, a hand towel, and 1 face cloth, all white. The room only accommodates one person so that’s the number of towels for one. We also only host male guests in this particular shared apartment (shared with two other men) so it’s interesting to me that some men use only one towel all week, and others use all of them on a one-night stay!

Each guest gets a bath towel, a hand towel and a wash cloth. From now on, when we have a long-haired guest, I’ll ask if they want another bath towel. That never occurred to me until I read this thread.
