Host cancels Asian women's airbnb

Here is the followup with the rest of (or more of) the messages and texts.

For those of us from Southern California, we would never doubt the news cameras at the site of ā€œsevereā€ weather. Their action teams would be all over that. I read her texts and yes the guest is a bit of a PITA with all of her requests… the host seems reasonable too, as do all the responses. Where the heck does it go off the rails???

I guess we don’t know the full story even now. Something I don’t get - and there’s probably very simple explanation - why are the screenshots in different fonts? Are some text messages and the others the app?

Yes, the screenshots are texting and the ones that look like Airbnb are airbnb.

Mostly with the dogs. She barely gets permission for the first one but then she gets another one (or claims she got another one). But she was clearly disappointed about the ā€œhot tubā€ and was always polite, said thank you and offered to bring wine as a thank you gift.

The host says she’s going to send an invoice with the charges so did those ever get accepted? Did Dyne forget to accept the charges and text about the payment. We are still missing some messages in the transition between text and airbnb platforms.

BTW, Dyne has posts about this on the public part of her facebook page including one that addresses the doubters. She says that she never wanted Tami kicked off Airbnb but in the messages she tells her she can say goodbye to airbnb and they won’t tolerate her bias. Despite dozens of people trying to fault her story everything has really been substantiated in every way so far.

The simple explanation is that Tami has early onset dementia or is bi-polar.

In that case the guest chose that font? On purpose? Sorry, I don’t want to come across as font-ist but still …

I think that another simple explanation is that the host had consumed several large glasses of wine.

Yes! You are a font-ist and probably elitist and classist as well!

But yes that does seem to be the font she chose. Young Korean women, k-pop, and comic sans (or similar) go together like black eyed peas and cornbread.

I’m not excusing Tami’s racists comments at all, but Dyne sounds like a nightmare guest. 2 dogs?! When the host originally said no to just one?! No wonder she was trying to get her to cancel.

I would have called Airbnb and told them I wasn’t comfortable. Stupid Tami!

You really think so? After reading about actual nightmares on this forum? Perfect? Easy? No. But not a nightmare, IMHO. I wish the guests who asked me for special considerations offered to bring a bottle of wine because I would sure take them up on that.

I’ve seen Tami’s listing and it did say No dogs one place and ā€œdogs consideredā€ another place. Then she says No dogs then she says let me ask my husband. Then she says okay my dog will be in San Diego. Then she says the dog will be here but we have a gate. She has a hot tub in the listing but then says it’s not available. I realize this is a host forum and I expect us to have one another’s back but Tami’s the one that sounds like a nightmare.

I think there are reasons, and I don’t think they flatter her, why she has disappeared and has not come forward in her own defense or for that matter, to offer a public apology.

Yes, you would have because you have your wits about you. Tami is off the rails one way or another.

Totally agree with this. There’s something seriously wrong with the way she handled this.

And to me that’s a nightmare guest. Not my worst nightmare, but an unpleasant one. Pushing all boundaries

Interesting. All this time I’ve thought I didn’t have any bad guests (well over 200 now) but maybe I just have a different tolerance for bad. It must be my years in a public school classroom.

I will admit I have a low tolerance. Some will say I’m in the wrong business (my main business is actually with canines and I MUCH prefer the four legged customers :joy:). I just think that although I have standards for the kind of guests I want, this aren’t particularly difficult for them to attain. I’m probably deluded!

Really? Why did I not know this? Bad memory or have you not previously said this? I have friends who immigrated to NZ (Dunedin) and had two dogs. For the last few years of their lives they wouldn’t go anywhere because they couldn’t find good care for their dog.

I’ll pm you

The cutesy font is something you can set your own phone to. So I assume that is coming from the guest phone.

It’s a cute little cartoon-ish font all right but it’s not comic sans. My housecleaner uses comic sans…and I’m so over it.

It’s millennial law student comic sans.
