I have only read bad things about people trying to redeem Airbnb gift cards. Granted, people wouldn’t post about it if nothing went wrong, but the stories were pretty bad.

I googled “problems with Airbnb gift cards” Looks like the bad stories were prior to 2019. Cards were purchased directly from Amazon & had an expiration date. If the guest loaded the card before the expiration onto their Airbnb payment methods, it worked as designed & dollars did not expire.
Those who waited to load the card onto Airbnb lost $$ if the card had expired. Amazon had the funds & kept them. Airbnb received funds only when input as payment method before expiration.
Sounds like Amazon was counting on people not reading & allowing cards to expire.
An Airbnb gift card seems like such a narrowly targeted thing.
