Why are posts being removed? I guess I missed whatever was said, but unless the comments were abusive towards a mod who is beloved by so many, I don’t understand why we are white-washing a thread. We aren’t in the business of hiding things, are we?
As @konacoconutz knows, I didn’t agree 100% with her delivery style at times, but I never questioned her commitment to the forum and hosts of all stripes. She was one of the few who could be counted on to jump in to answer any question–even the really difficult ones most of us scroll by because we can’t find the exact right words to say. She told her truth, whatever it was–warts and all. That takes a lot of guts.
Kona was fiercely loyal to the hosts, and she gave endless hours to this community. It is a shame not everyone has repaid her with the same loyalty.

The problem with typing words is that the person can’t see your face, your eyes, your smile, your frown - what is read can be interpreted to mean what the reader wants. I love this forum and all of it’s people with diverse viewpoints. They teach me new ideas, patience and share some darn good laughter. Everyone, take a big breath and lets start anew.

I feel the same way. I saw nothing that resembled gossip. Confusion yes. Gossip no. I’m new here but have developed a mental list of “neighborhood characters” from this forum that I would love to sit down and have a drink and pick their brain for a while. @konacoconutz was certainly high on that list. I already miss her and hope she is faring well during the storm.

Hmm… I remember that guy! Actually I don’t think he was so much playing gotcha, as he was using the knowledge he had picked up from the camera footage that showed the guest sneaking in an illegal party to force them to come clean and get the person out.
He did seem to enjoy it but, the bottom line is, the guest brought in a person who was not authorized to be on the property and was trying to conceal it from the host. So he sat in the common area knowing they’d have to walk the illegal party past him in order to leave.
Whether he had some fun with it or not is beside the point because his bottom line was that the camera came in really handy and protected him and his wife and family from what could have been a dangerous situation.
Not sure why anyone would object to that. Guest insists on creating a dangerous situation for host family, host family has the right to protect themselves - by all LEGAL means.

In context of the thread the point is that not all hosts here support that practice. I think it’s great it works for you. I also think it’s great that I can tell you that I think it’s a creepy practice. Other hosts can tell you they would never stay at a place with cameras. And then we move on. You don’t cry about how unwelcoming and unfriendly this forum is and you’re afraid to post anything because someone might dare say they think you’re wrong. I can still respect you as a host and appreciate the knowledge you bring to the forum.

People want to know where Kona is and why we haven’t heard from her. Some of us have an answer to that question; an answer we believe we have confirmed as true. Speaking for myself, I’m not going to share that evidence here, publicly on the forum. People don’t have to believe me but their incredulity doesn’t make the information shared gossip.

Sooo, @Billy_Bob_Merkowitz - what’s with all your “withdrawn” posts? I’ve seen several (at least three) of those notifications and don’t have a clue what you wrote as I only check the forum sporadically.
Did you really remove your own posts or were they deleted by the Powers That Be?
Just curious.
In general I think it is best that we don’t talk about someone who isn’t here to answer.
If they want to be here and communicate to the forum about it they will.

Hi everyone! I’m the OP on this thread. I saw some weird stuff going down elsewhere and I didn’t know what to make of it all, and I guess it seems I didn’t see even half of it. All I know is that this forum has been great to me and taught me a ton. @konacoconutz is amazing and was one of the first forum members to take me under her wing, so to speak. I never thought I would open some can of worms with this and respectfully request that @cabinhost close the thread. Thank you all and be well.
