Airbnb paying 25% based on your cancellation policy?

I hope you spelled his name correctly when you sent your message.

The problem is that they don’t have enough money to expand the policy. But if they did it’s still only a fraction of what you would have gotten had the virus not hit.

They are deluged with requests and because they have no money they announced huge layoffs. You and everyone else will probably have a longer wait time than you’d like.

I am really, really sorry to read this. Best of luck to you.

I am thankful for the president. He will make sure we open back up as quick as possible. He understands poverty kills and that saving every single life now will mean devastation and death later. The bleeding heart liberals seem not to get this.

Holy f***, medicated as I am, all I can say is that you have some balls posting that. Unbelievable.

Half of Americans agree with me, so not that ballsy! Just hope we don’t get a Democrat in the office or it will be a VERY LONG RECOVERY, like 2009-2016. 1% growth, high unemployment. Money for Green New Deal INSTEAD of business owners. We saw what Pelosi tried to do with the stimulus JUST SCARY (to business community).

No, not half, Nell. He’s never had an approval rating of more than 30-40%. And he lost the election by 3 million popular votes, so that’s 3 miilion more people who voted for Hillary.
But I know people with your mind set don’t believe anything that doesn’t fit in with their pre-conceived notions.

Outside of whatever state you parochially reside in, your president is being ridiculed for his behaviour over this crisis. In Spain, some media have likened him to a perma tanned Nero. Social media is less polite, as I am. Your president has blood on his hands due to his self serving decisions, and I sincerely hope that what’s left of the U.S. electorate remember this in the next polling.

I’ve said this before and will say again…no one despises Donald Trump more than I, I swear. He is the worst president ever and his actions are criminal. History will be his judge.

But if we are going to allow criticisms of him we must tolerate those who support him. So if everyone would please refrain from personal insults and stick to facts.
If we go too far down the rabbit hole I’ll have to close the thread.

You approve of economic darwinism? Only those with money should survive?

Sticking to the FACTS. With 7 times the population, looks like the US LED BY TRUMP is having much better results than Spain. So so sad the Spanish people did not elect a great leader!

No, I said that a country mired in poverty HAS MORE DEATHS!! That is why Trump wants to keep the country from experiencing something like the Great Depression.
I said business people understand this, TO PREVENT poor people from living on the streets begging YOU MUST OPEN UP THE ECONOMY. A Great Depression will HURT POOR PEOPLE, Trump understands this. Liberals thinking saving a few people now is MORE IMPORTANT than stopping a Great Depression. Conservatives understand poverty kills just as surely as covid 19.

Nell, do you understand that we are behind Spain on the timeline? Have you heard Trump say we could have 200,000 deaths? But you are right today and predictions aren’t facts.

Please come back in one month, if you are still alive, and let us know how great things are going. I assure you no one here wants you to die and we all feel badly for you.

You do remember that he said that this was nothing more than a flu? Nothing was done to prepare or prevent the spread for months and now New York is in lock down?
A 17 year old was turned away from a hospital because he didn’t have insurance and died the next day…
Going now - feeling nauseous

You generalize alot. The problem, as I see it, is that the folks running this country want to “get back to normal” despite what Doctors and Scientists advise is the best course of action to stop the virus from overwhelming our hospitals/medical facilities/healthcare personnel. I don’t understand how “opening up the economy” directly helps poor people as it has not done much for them so far. Before the virus the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. I don’t see that changing if we allow people to go back to work and come in close contact with each other and get the virus…then spread the virus…
I could say more but I have to go inside to help my 89 year old mother who used to be middle-class until she was taxed so much that now she is closer to the poverty level.

The Democrats are the ones raising taxes. Opening up the country PREVENTS a total collapse. During a total collapse, the rich DO get richer. They do not end up on the street. They get to buy up properties at bargain prices. History shows the lower income folks do the worst in an impoverished country.,Think Mexico with all the rich living behind walls. Or rich LIBERAL bastions like San Francisco,LA, NY. Trumps economy immediately bumped up the economy and lowered the unemployment rate of ALL MINORITIES. I do agree the ultra rich should pay more in taxes. They make most of their money in stocks which are not taxed at a high rate. ALL of my money is subject to INCOME tax, Rich folks just pay “capital gains”. That REALLY IS WRONG.

Just stop! I have two ER doctors living in my Airbnb duplex right now because they don’t want to bring this horrific virus back to their families. I don’t give a rat’s ass what you think about politics. It’s too late for debates.

The rich and the poor alike live behind walls in Mexico. It’s traditional architecture.

Well Trump and his cronies disagree. They are all about giving the filthy rich tax breaks.

@SOHIL I thank you for hosting and supporting First Responders. It’s a very stressful time for all of us but not nearly so much as for they (and their families)

This forum has taken on a dramatic dynamic of late; I believe because it is such a stressful time with people feeling so helpless, combined with too much idle time.

While I understand your concern about trying to veer the conversation away from politics, hear me out on this. This forum has the unique platform of being worldwide and including a diverse set of perspectives. Too many of us isolate ourselves with those that agree with us and who share similar philosophies from so called “News” channels.

I do my best to understand what other people are saying and I do try to communicate what I believe, as respectfully as I can, admittedly sometimes not so successfully. But because this forum is broader than what is typically in each of our comfort zones, it has the potential to be hugely impactful.

I’d like to think those who have been minimizing the risks of this virus, those who choose to bash the Democrats from prior administrations, those without the capacity to acknowledge wrongs of the current administration’s delayed crisis management approach, might actually hear something that they wouldn’t normally.

There are some that will never get it. But at least it is a perspective they might not have heard before.

Of late, I’ve discovered two things:

  1. When Trump supporters have no answer for all the things this administration is responsible for (Disbanding the Pandemic Prevention group, Not taking preliminary actions when advised, Not having the necessary testing kits, etc) they have no answers or they change the subject or find a way to blame Democrats. “Head in the sand approach”

  2. This Forum is like Cable TV … there are multiple Topics (Channels); if someone doesn’t like what they are reading, then they have the option of changing the Topic and/or logging off. I have removed myself from several topics that I got a bit carried away with.

Until a moderator intervenes, I don’t believe any of us should be telling people what they can and can not say. We either choose to move on, or respectfully offer a point of view. Operative word: RESPECTFULLY

It is the “POOR PEOPLE” who are most impacted by the virus and economic downtown, with little resources, healthcare, and within crowded conditions.

While I agree that getting people back to work is economically important, most experts believe the priority needs to be getting testing kits to everyone BEFORE people are sent back to work.

That should be the hinge point; That is what we all should be demanding. If that doesn’t happen, this virus will infect those that do go to work and all the social distancing that has been going on will be for naught, and the economy will not recover.

What should not happen (but probably will) is OPENING UP THE ECONOMY for political reasons. Trump understands that his credentials for being elected to a second term is the economy. His economy is now failing “BIGLY”. If he chooses to open the economy up before test kits are readily available for all, be assured it is not to help THE POOR PEOPLE; It is to help himself / his election.
