A crazy day with guest who act to have no money

Occupancy tax is not a. ‘Security deposit’…

I would like to know what the difference is between the Host Guarantee and the Damage Deposit. All I’ve been told is that the Damage Deposit provides a faster payout. Is that all? The final decision on if and how that money gets paid out is still ABB’s though, right? If a Host charges a damage deposit I believe the Host should have more control over how that Damage Deposit gets used. Afterall, they are not going through the Host Guarantee. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding the process or the point in having two separate ways of collecting and dispersing funds for damage??? I can kind of see where Chen is coming from, although I agree she has to play by ABB rules or risk losing her account. This is a legit issue though, along with ABB providing a separate method of collecting $$$ for local taxes (that doesn’t involve double taxing). If Hosts are expected to act like 3rd party contractors then they need to be given more control over the decisions that affect their bottom line.

I do not know what “No” means in your region, but on most parts of the world “No” means it is not allowed.

Read the first word of the answer in the AirBnB helpcentre.

We are not talking about the same thing. I am talking about the security deposit for my furniture, floor and wall ect…that is allowed. You should read the actical in " garantie for host" . It suggests that a host takes a deposite or private insurance because the airbnb insurrance dont cover some things…

Taxes are allowed but not security deposit

Oh dear me. Yes, of COURSE hosts should be insured. But you cannot take a cash security deposit.

Here’s yet another image.

Security deposit is furniture, floor, window, cleaness etc.

Thank you @felixcat - despite my better judgement I have been replying to this craziness. Mainly because I know that this site has lots of casual viewers and I’d like them to know that the OP is NOT indicative of a true Airbnb host and that most of us are truly lovely

But I’m sure that they can tell anyway!

It’s my understanding that airbnb handles deposits. The guests credit card is held against the deposit amount stated in your listing in case any problem is documented and reported… but the entire transaction is handled by airbnb NOT the host.

Secondly… if you’re worried about bad ratings, stop being a bad host… I can’t believe there are hosts out there with this much contempt for their guests. You may want to think of trying another business, because hospitality isn’t for you… you’re giving the rest of us who try hard to provide a wonderful experience for our guests a bad name.

You shouldn’t even be hosting, I don’t think you know what your doing. You should never be taking cash from a guests for a reservation or deposit. All rules are the same in all countries.
Stop charging deposit outside of airbnb

Really? Seems you have no clue what you are doing.
I hope you get banned from AirBnB soon, you are a shame to all other hosts.

Maybe you should learn how AirBnB works before screwing your poor guests!!

If a guest reports you to Air for trying to collect a security / damage deposit then Air will kick you off straight away. @Chen_Susanne
