Who else is coming. Let... owner know. Question

I just booked a place with airbnb.
I beleive i added second guest.

There is me and my partner.

But later on i see i get notification on airbnb indicating (Who else is coming to Seattle. Let jassman know) Click here.

Ok is it necessary to ? Does the whole thing needs to know who my partner is and full name to it? There is just me and my partner. I think it previously shows on my booking (2 guest) But why am i now getting this notification when the booking already knows there is 2 people coming. And also knows my name of my booking. Its not like i have to pay as well just to have my partner with me. When its already been paid.

Do i still have to fill out the name of my partner of whos coming? Since i thought it wasn’t necessarily since when booking i stated clicking 2 people together.

I think they want your partner’s ID for verification.

It’s a courtesy to the host so they know who will be arriving, and it’s also so the host is covered for both guests by Airbnb’s insurance.

My advice: Either relax a little and go with the flow, or stick to hotels. The sharing economy, to include Airbnb, only works if guests and hosts trust each other.

I like knowing who is coming because I write their name on our chalkboard in the kitchen with a welcome message. And when I greet them at the door I say " Aloha Joe and Dan!"
Totally benign ask, and it is auto generated as a touch point for host and guest. Sometimes my guests don’t tell me their partner, fiance, friend, kid…etc name until they arrive. No biggie.

Kevin, it’s a good sign surely? Isn’t the host being thorough? Doesn’t that reassure you as a nervous guest?

First - This is a host forum. Not really the place to post your comment. Contacting Airbnb support would probably be better.

Second - I’m pretty sure this is an automatic message from Airbnb not from the host.

Third - I personally require all people staying in my space to provide government photo ids (booking person and guests). This way I have photos of everyone coming and I verify with my front door camera. I have also discovered errors in booking by getting the photo ids. (Third Party Booking, children under 12 booking, more people than on reservation bookings, etc.)

I do however, have this requirement in my house rules so if they don’t want to provide the extra ids, then they don’t have to book my place.

Absolutely. I booked somewhere a few months ago for October, have spoken to the host several times on the platform about who the booking is for (us), meeting up with friends ( and hopefully Malagachica…), and generally feeling comfortable with each other. Then life got busy for us both over summer but this message still appears. I don’t worry about it one iota!

You are booking a room in a private home. Hosts have the right to know who is going to be staying in their home. If you don’t like that, book a hotel.
