For the UK crowd, where do you recommend for beds & mattresses?
Needs to be good / high-end, but not super luxury.
Thanks

Matter of personal choice really, what would go well with the decor in your listings and whether you want to choose them in person or online.
All the main department stores offer beds and mattresses for sale online and at their shops, as do high street chains such as M&S and furniture stores.
If you are a member of Which. you can check out their reviews on mattresses.
There are quite a few articles by consumer journalists on the nationals and consumer magazines, along the lines of best beds in 2018 which are worth you reading up on to see recommended beds available within your budget.
I’m not a member of Which, but that sounds like a very good idea.
Thanks
Yes I think it’s worth it. I use them quite a lot when buying household items for my new place.
I bought an Eve mattress following their reviews and have had great feedback.
We have IKEA mattresses and a good number of guests have commented that they are very comfortable.

From what I remember, IKEA have their own bed sizes which differ from UK standard sizes. If it wasn’t for that, I’d definitely go with IKEA.
On the UK site they have their sizes plus the standard UK doubles, king and super king.

Oh wow! That’s great news! Thank you very much!
You’re in London I think? We bought all of our beds and mattresses from a family run shop on the outskirts of Harlow, Essex, just behind The Range. Mr Joan is just looking for the name- aha- “Pronto Beds”. They buy up excess stock from the big boys, including M&S. They have a huge variety to choose from, according to your decor. Ours are all traditional black metal frames, with fabulously comfortable mattresses, covered in a cashmere laden fabric, and with deep pocket springs. I had some guests in the summer who were from nearby Hertford who asked for the details, as it was the best night’s sleep they’d had in a while.
A tip: I would say that these mattresses are quite heavy and difficult to lift with somewhat aged, arthritic hands, and I think you’ve said your mum is managing your place. It’s better to go for a frame that has a divan type base rather than slats, making it easier to make up. I also have a long handled shoe horn to help with tucking in my ingrained hospital corners!
They don’t deliver unfortunately but we’ve used AnyVan.com, where people offer quotes for the job you post. We’ve used the site several times when moving house, including bringing stuff back from the S of France a few years ago.
