I have my listing set to 1 day advance notice required for bookings, which has worked well for me up until this current booking. This week I got a request at 11:50 pm for a booking the next day, after I’d gone to bed. Upon waking the next morning, I accepted it (because I didn’t want a decline on my record) but had to panic to get the room ready that evening after I got back from work, and thankfully the guest was ok with a late check-in.
I had always guessed that the “1 day advance notice” means the request can be made any time before midnight rather than 24 hours before check-in (3 pm), and now I know for sure. I guess in the future I should block the next day if I go to bed before midnight and the room isn’t ready. Lesson learned. Just thought I’d share with those who might not be aware of this.
I wish AirBnB let us choose a cutoff time like they do for same-day IB.
I had someone IB at 11:50 PM for the next day. I woke up and saw I now had someone arriving the day-of. Luckily I’d already done most the turnover, but it was still a bit of a scramble.
That has only happened to me once, because almost everybody flies or takes a ferry to get here. That one time was someone who had been staying at another AirBnB who decided to stay in town 2 extra days and the room they were in was previously booked. I have a 2 day minimum because I don’t want to change sheets and clean for a $60 one night stay.
This has happened to me quite a few times where I find bookings on dates I block off to prep my listings. I just call Airbnb and ask them to cancel @GardenFairy
Apparently, this feature is NOT working right. We have our listing set to “one day advance notice”…but we just woke up to a reservation request for a group at 12:05am for an arrival at 3:00pm.
We accepted, but it’s adding significant stress to the day. We don’t want to set it to 2 days because we often have businessmen who reserve for the next day. I had always assumed that “1 day” meant at LEAST 24 hours.
I’m surprised they let that go through. Based on what happened to me with a reservation coming at around 11:45, I assumed they would allow any reservation prior to midnight the day before arrival. But at 12:05? Now you have to wonder if it’s based on a different time zone or if it’s a glitch and you might get bookings even as late as the morning or afternoon of arrival.
