Waterproof bed covers

I saw someone mention an Amazon product to cover the mattresses. I had tried one and found it too hot to sleep on. Have others found good ones, and if so where did you get them. I like the idea of a waterproof mattress, but I can’t subject my guests to something I would not want.

I bought one of my beds second hand and it came with one, a high quality one, fleecy sort of on the side that meets the mattress and a bit latex like and krinkley on the up side. I too it off as it looked creepy, like for a person with a bladder control issue and you could hear it when you moved on the bed so I don’t recommend buying one and I think it would sweat in the heat. You can’t dryer them either so changing between guests is a pain. Just go for a high quality mattress protector unless you have a single bed primarily for children in which I would recommend as they do wet the beds, even much older children in an unfamiliar environment or under stress and travelling can be a stress.

The one that K8KarmaCasa put a link to could be washed and dried. Still I would be worried about feeling hot.

The one I bought is $21 in Queen size. Buy it and try it. If you don’t like it, big deal. Or only use it in the winter. It’s only going to take one accident to make you wish you had one.

Karma can you post the URL?

I see today it’s $30. When I posted the link yesterday on another thread it was $20. I paid $30 in June.

We have this one on our bnb bed and our own. It actually sleeps nicely but we still have a cotton mattress pad on top of it.

Editing to add that the waterproof nature of it was tested when guests spilled red wine on the mattress and it soaked down to the protector. The protector did its job!

We bought ours from Target. I haven’t noticed it when I laid on the bed, and none of our guests have mentioned it either.

Good idea putting a cotton mattress pad on top, darn I didn’t think of that!

We traveled to Italy last year and the place we stayed at had waterproof bed covers (even with cushy stuff on one side). It definitely WAS hot, sweaty and crinkly… very uncomfortable. I ended up taking it off the bed after the first night and put it back on before we vacated at the end of the stay.

However, for our guests with kids I am also looking for something that people wouldn’t mind staying on the beds. There have been 2 incidents with accidents and definitely a problem.

Does anyone have Tempur-Pedic beds with a cover on them? Is it a conventional cover or one from tempurpedic? If you are using a conventional mattress cover, does it work well?
I copied this from the Tempur-pedic website:
“We do not recommend using a conventional mattress pad or mattress cover with your mattress. These items add another “layer” between you and the TEMPUR material, reducing its ability to conform to your body.”

Is this a bunch of hooey or is it true?

Bought the Amazon product K9KarmaCasa posted. Slept on it two nights and didn’t bother me. I then put the regular mattress pad on there and absolutely no issues. I will be buying more. Thanks, K9KarmaCasa

Thanks everyone, this has been very useful.
