Hi All, has anyone else had the experience with VRBO not paying hosts for a stay?
We hosted on VRBO for a stay in June that went well no issues, no resolution, no insurance claims. We were promised various dates of payouts from day after check-in to day after check-out - none was forthcoming. We were given the runaround many times by Support from re-submitting tax forms to resubmitting bank account information to their system broke down. Any and all excuses plus the kitchen sink.
It is now 2 weeks after that stay was concluded, we haven’t even gotten paid.
What are your experience with VRBO? Thanks
We’ve been on VRBO for five+ plus years and had excellent experience with them. We love their damage protection option. Always been well paid; guests too have been excellent.
They just don’t bring us much business.
Also, if you accept their pricing recommendations the are WAY MORE than Airbnb or Price Labs recommends.
Best of luck to you.
Hi yep we have the same problem 2 bookings and no payment repeatly contacted them just nothing asks for more information or pass it to another department .Check out Trustpilot not just us they are all over .something stinks I have suspended so no more bookings can be taken …Never had a problem on airbnb or booking .com My opionn is they may be in trouble ,not expecting to get my money will keep trying
Can you both update? Has VRBO come through with payment yet? I was considering listing on VRBO but this is making me reconsider.
@Keugenia - we’ve been listed on Vrbo for 10 years and I’ve never had trouble getting paid. And I’ve heard reports about all three major OTAs (AirBnB, Booking dot com and Vrbo) that hosts haven’t been paid. So I would not let that scare you off from listing on Vrbo.
Keep in mind, though, that Vrbo doesn’t interfere as much in your business as AirBnB does. I like that, but not everyone does. Frankly, I’m far more nervous with AirBnb guests because the CS reps are notorious for giving big refunds if anything goes wrong. That doesn’t happen often, if ever, with Vrbo guests.

VRBO lets you upload your own contract that you can have guests sign - something Airbnb or BDC doesn’t offer.
VRBO also allows the set up of a security deposit to facilitate damage claims.
VRBO support has been working fine for us as well.
The first ever payment took one month to hit our bank account, but the following were transferred one or two days after check-in.
