Airbnb released this a week or so ago. If you want to join one of the 454 area host clubs they mention:

  1. Find the Facebook group for your area.
  2. Select JOIN
  3. Airbnb will review your request. If you have an active listing, Airbnb will approve you.

Airbnb sent hosts an invitation to join these groups when they were first established for specific areas. It was easy to skip over the email or maybe it went to your Spam folder. Here you go. Join if you wish.

Did you join one? Is there camaraderie, is info shared, how does it work?

I just joined a local host Facebook. There are some useful exchanges of advice, where to find cleaners, etc. The moderators seem to be pretty rah-rah about Airbnb; I think they are probably following a script.

Yes—it’s too new. Not enough members yet to be really meaningful. Only a few contributors. The moderator is doing a good job giving people reasons to get involved & build team spirit. She’s hosting in-person & zoom meeting ups.

The News articles I share are usually from the group.

I’m hoping by this time next year, it will be robust

They are. The moderator of my group mentioned she gets weekly topics from Airbnb

My one is really well used . Been a member since it was first set up.

Nothing far enough north for me. Nothing north of Williams Lake, BC., nothing in Alaska or Yukon.

Disappointing …………….

I joined one before the pandemic but I don’t know if it was one of the Airbnb ones or just one started by a random host. I didn’t last long. The complainers there made this forum look like Rainbow and Unicorns Land. The level of engagement was at a low level and a low quality. Also there were too many investor and arbitrage types as opposed to owner- operators.

If the time comes where my city is going to regulate Airbnbs like mine it might pay to be involved. If it comes to a point of needing a co-host or cleaner I’d probably stop doing Airbnb.
