I learned my lesson.
Back in the day my company hosted a get together in a major hotel in Ottawa. Someone tripped the fire alarm and everything shut down for 3 hours. We had to present by generator light and flashlight.
Six months later I said “what are the odds?”, And staged another event.
Well guess what happened!
No refund. No apologies. It was considered an Act of God.
We cannot be responsible for fire alarms doing what they are supposed to do. And we are not responsible for ruining anyone’s vacation.
