I have recently been reading about STR’s destructive side, especially in New Orleans. One question is how on earth can Airbnb advertise places in cities where it is illegal? Personally, I am upset about the way this has become a totally commercial enterprise with people buying or renting numerous properties to rent out.

I agree. It should not be allowed to become an impersonal, commercial enterprise. The original concept of a homeowner renting out a spare room or “air” mattress on the floor should prevail.
