Stuffed Chair or Desk?

We would welcome your thoughts: Our guest cabin is approximately 300 sq.ft. One bedroom, one bath and full kitchen. The living room has a couch (not a pull out) and stuffed armless chair. The dining area has two chairs and a small table. Should we replace the stuffed armless chair with a desk? (It would have to be a small corner desk.) - Thanks

People need places to put down stuff for charging, even if they are coming to spend “a weekend in nature.” Phones will generally be by the bed, but people still cart around an iPad or computer. I would think a desk would be more useful and appreciated given the size of your space – I would think 3 max(?) so a couch can handle that.

I like the desk, not only for folks that work remotely but for kiddos to be able to sit down to draw or color.

Given that it sounds like your place is listed for 2 guests max, and the space and eating table are small, I’d go for the desk. That way they can have their laptop or whatever on the desk, without having to clear off the dining table to eat.
If you hosted more than 2, I’d say the stuffed chair might be preferrable, so they don’t have to sit in a line on the couch to relax and converse.

Thank you all for commenting. The cabin is most comfortable for two people. We were thinking one could use the dining table to work but all great points.

When we were setting up our Airbnb we (me and my husband) seriously debated adding a desk vs adding a comfy large chair or small sofa. He won the debate and we installed a long desk along one wall, and the main reason he won was because (a) it was cheaper and (b) more upholstered furniture would bring additional cleaning burdens. A desk is super easy to wipe down; spills on the upholstery are much more of a pain to deal with. Now that we’ve been operating for about a year, I am convinced we made the right decision, because with that desk we have attracted guests who are on workcations and need a place other than the dining table set up a computer workspace. So far these have been excellent guests. So I vote for the desk!

I appreciate the desk, not just for remote workers, but also for children to have a dedicated space for drawing and coloring.
