Time to replace my ironing board cover at the rental and I see they make them in silicon now (all these new-fangled gadgets! 
!).

They do! Mine arrives tomorrow. I going to give it a spin here at home and if I like it I’ll take it to the rental and maybe get one for myself (truth: not much ironing happens here at home
