Reservation requests Outside Accepted Reservation window

How are hosts dealing with AirBnb’s newer “feature” that now allows guests to request to book outside the set booking window? I use instant book and allow bookings within 12 months. I have no interest in allowing bookings past 12 months for several reasons. I have repeat guests that are familiar with my booking window, far off bookings are highly subject to cancellations and given that life changes can happen unexpectedly, I don’t want to have any obligations past 12 months. I have been declining these reservations, but it’s a new annoyance to have to stop and decline and explain to the guests why I’m declining the reservation and to try back once it’s within the 12 month time frame.
Has anyone found a way to disable this “feature”? Because that would be lovely.

Yes, you can opt-out. I think it’s in the same place as where you set your availability window.

I opted out the first day they made it available.

Bless you!!! That’s exactly what I needed to find!

Funny, I still haven’t seen anything on my availability setting that says guests can book beyond my availability window. It still says 3 months, just like it always has.
@rsbrwnng Are these requests that guests were allowed to send beyond your availability window, or inquiries?

You have to expand your “Availability window” box and it’s all the way at the bottom.

No, that box doesn’t appear under availabilty settings on my account. It ends at “Dates unavailable by default”.

:woman_shrugging: Count yourself lucky that you don’t have to worry about, I guess.

They were very much requests that I had to accept or decline. I easily found the setting and turned it off.
