Product recommendations July 2020

I have seen towel requests from time to time so I thought I’d add a sale I just saw on Zulily.

Beach Towel Bonanza! https://www.zulily.com/invite/kdrinan474/event/439510?tid=social_sms_android_phone_shareviaicon_na_modal_ed8485e6cf91bc64e85625cc29e8dde8&eid=439510

Some cute things, around $9 each. Pretty designs and colors.

Sonos One speakers are very high on my purchasing list at the moment. Oh, and a torch for the bedside table. Maybe a Maglite.

I got these things a while ago and really like them, even got some for my kiddo’s room and our office space:

Has anyone used reuseable washable “Swiffer” dry cloths? My caretaker loves the single-use ones and it drives me nuts, the waste and money. I was thinking about getting a reuseable alternative. Any recommendations?

I like the O-Cedar ProMist MAX Microfiber Spray Mop. You can use dry, or fill with your favorite cleaning solution. And the microfiber pads are washable and can be used on both sides.

I bought my locally, but available on Amazon…

Yes, these are very good. WE bought this for our AirBnB listing too. Our version comes as a multi destination travel plug so pretty much any plug in the world fits into it.

I use these in a swifter & Bona spray for hardwood or for tile (depends upon room).

The good points of microfiber cloths:
Washable
Reusable

Need to know.
Must be lightly moist (not wet) so can slide across surface and pick up water & dirt.
Rough surface cleans well. Dirties & saturates quickly. You will use many to clean floor. (Just wash them so no biggie)

I found mine at Walmart for less than $10 but haven’t seen them recently

I also have a Bona cleaning stick with washable pad. The washable pad will only do a small room so need several

That is a great idea! And I have some but never thought about using them in a Swiffer. Thanks!!

What about a vacuum? I have never liked those swiffers, they seem so gimmicky to me.

I don’t like them either and actually gave my personal use one away years ago. I have a wonderful vacuum but he insists on Swiffers for his final inspection. I’d fight him on it but he’s a godsend of a clean freak, which is a good thing, especially right now. I’m going to go the microfiber route and see if he balks. If I win, then I will take up the charge against all his paper towels … :muscle:

Some battles are not worth fighting, you are lucky to have such a freak.

I am! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Even if he Swiffers after ME when I stay, clean, Swiffer and leave. At first, I was like “What in the hell??” And now … [Hands in the air, gives up, drinks wine] Lol

Any old rag can be stuck on a swiffer for dust mopping the floor. I like old t-shirts. I have some microfiber ones I bought special for the swiffer. They are okay dry, I don’t like them wet. Swiffers are too small for anything but spot clean up. With all the dog hair you can vac it off when dry and keep swiffing. For my part of the house I usually suck up the large dust bunnies with the stick vac, run the robot vac, then mop. Growing up we didn’t have swiffers we had a thing called a dust mop. You’d dust, shake it out and occasionally take the head off and wash it.

Now that’s a good idea, I remember doing the wood floors at home as a kid, dust mop, shake, spray mop with furniture polish then do it again.

I remember those! It was my favorite job at my Grandma’s and my mother even noted in my “baby” book that I loved dusting at grandma’s house but not at home. Maybe Mom should have had one too, and I would have! Ha!
