You have reminded me of when I attended an HIV/Aids information day, held in a local mental health facility in the mid 1980’s. Some of the nursing staff on an in-patient unit started kicking off about the “dangers” of not knowing if patients were positive, how they should be screened pre-admission. People needing a fast admission to a MH facility?
I became so angry that I stood up and asked them if they intended to have sex with their patients. Didn’t go down too well at all.
I know what you mean. I had a boss at the time who told me that AIDS was a punishment from God to gay men for their ‘indecent ways’. I resigned from that job on the spot.
I don’t think anyone else reading your post would have leapt to the unfair and inaccurate assumption that you were using humour to hide a deep seated prejudice against gay men with your initial response
It was clear that your ‘straight’ reference was in relation to @RiverRock’s letting us know he had a request for his place to be used to carry out commercial filming as opposed to a straight forward booking.
@RiverRock - I wouldn’t host this booking (not before you jump down my throat too @Mexican because I am homophobic), but because if someone wants to use my listing on a commercial basis to film, then I will charge them commercial rates, not just an expensive day rate. I will want a contract and to see a copy of their liability insurance.
I have had a porn shoot in a room. I have been campaigning for gay right s for 35 years. I know how HIV is transmitted.
Do what ever you feel is right for you and ur property.
I just listed on MisterBnB. How is it for you? I listed as a gay host but am keen to make sure potential guests are just here for the peace and quiet. It gets mixed reviews but they seem to be trying very hard at the moment to, errm, straighten up their act.
So I had a request to film a “movie” at my rural Quebec lakeside Chalet and it gave me pause until I received information that it was a teenager creating a film as her entry “essay” into a visual arts college. She sent me the screenplay outline and I let her film there and it worked out fine. I didn’t ask her for a copy of the film though and I have no idea if she got into the college!
OK so they checked out and left, the cabin was left in the better condition than the lasts 5 sets of guests, no lube stains on the sheets. No splooge that I could see anywhere. That being said I am WASHING EVERYTHING I already left him a 5 star review and hope to host them again.
It depends on how organized and professional they are to be honest. We hosted an Instant Booking for what turned out to be a prominent media company for a Google phone commercial. They came prepared with contracts and liability. I didn’t even have to ask! Porn is an incredibly lucrative industry with both professional and unprofessional operators. As long as it is a professional operator I say it’s worth considering. And yes, I do consider this different than if a prostitute books your home and brings home strangers.
