New: Standards & Expectations

Hi all,

Google Now sent me a link to an article on the Airbnb Blog introducing ‘Standards & Expectations’.

I am glad to learn that we should not rape our guests and that they should not steal our documents :).

Ha ha good to know!

Airbnb puts it all in such tiny print and a guest has to look it up to even find it.

This sentence is downright weird:

“We take suicide, self-injury, eating disorders, and hard drug abuse extremely seriously and work to help people in crisis.”

How the hell does ‘eating disorder’ fit into this list?? Did they get a lot of complaints from hosts about guests eating all the food in the house? And how exactly do they “work to help people in crisis”? Honestly, this is the biggest pile of shite I’ve seen from them in a very long time.

And this is weird: “You should not commit physical or sexual assault, sexual abuse, domestic violence, robbery, human trafficking, other acts of violence, or hold anyone against their will. Members of dangerous organizations, including terrorist, organized criminal, and violent racist groups, are not welcome in this community.”

First off … just DUH! But then they add “violent racist groups” are not welcome - non-violent are okay, I guess.

Honestly, it sounds like a freshman college manifesto.

Indeed. That means I can welcome guests into my home dressed in full KKK regalia as long as I don’t smack them about the head. Good to know. Also, I can be an unorganised criminal, it seems. That’s a relief! My nefarious illegal activities are a bit haphazard so I’m fine.
