this is a large factor in what made staying in a Hotel so very expensive and allowed the birth of ABB to offer an alternative to the high prices per night
Now the same overhead will be imposed on (ABB and ) HA listings…pushing our properties out of the affordable range too.
The savings to the guest are being eliminated and what was savings to guest and/ or profits to owners are going into the pocket of OTA

Very insightful, I agree.
I think all the OTAs and platforms have peaked and are on their way down. And are taking the owners with them. It’s a gradual and nuanced slide but it’s happening.
Between all the regulations coming into play everywhere and the increasing squeeze on hosts to offer more for less, It’s an inevitable race to the bottom.
I remain hopeful that travelers will begin to get smart and start (again) booking directly with owners. But there will still be the trust issue for many - is the property real and as nice as the pictures show it to be?
