I really like what GutHend has created - very inviting! I would add that if you do hang pictures to makes sure they are not too high up on the wall (eye height is good) and the size is appropriate for the space. If you need a large size but it’s too costly then grouping a number of small pictures together always looks great. As GutHend and others have mentioned curtains to the floor will really soften the look and if possible hang them up much higher then the windows to give the look that the windows are bigger. I like the floor, it has personality and I would use it as my inspiration for the room. Making a lovely area rug by sewing smaller rugs together is another cost saving project for consideration.

A 100% washable paint could be the solution to that. You could also do the horizontal striping with a varnished multiplex or OSB. Kind of a headboard that continues on the sidewall.

I think there’s a concrete beam that doesn’t allow the curtains to be hung any higher. Which of course is a pity, because that would even be better.

oh i study interior design so i will try help!

first get rid of that red wall, paint the whole room white or natural.

whats the view out of the window? i would do modern roll blinds instead of curtain to make that side look bigger

-get rid of the fan.

can you put a new light in rather than that florescent tube lighting?

the bed frame looks quite nice and the tiles are ok, just put a rug in like @guthend suggested

then maybe some nice white bedding with colourful cushisn

-paint the brown skirting round the bottom

  • patterned ikea rug

more modern like this http://www.signshopsf.com/s/2018/03/unusual-small-bedroom-layout-ideas-photo-design-best-bedrooms-on-how-to-room-free-online-home-decor-projectnimb-us-narrow-storage-for-rooms-double-furniture-very-712x1068.jpg

Thank you. I can do any with light just the ceiling is only 2,2 meters tall so you cant hang stuff without guest hitting it with their head. Window is asian - is opaque blinds made of glass - you cant see through

I am definitely going just to paint the whole thing white and leave the current tiles (is what i decide from answers above)

If it’s only 2m20 high, what is the height beneath the beam?

@Cocoanouk I like the rug you put in. I also like the bunch of cushions on your bed, but I always wonder what people do with them when they actually go to sleep . They are also a lot to wash, which is an added cost that is probably too much for a low budget BnB.

Get rid of the red wall. It clashes with the tiles and emphasises the long, narrow shape of the room (dark colours make a wall look smaller). Consider some pretty blinds or shutters for the windows, they need emphaising because the room looks a bit prison cell like. Get rid of the mirror on the red wall, it emphasises the narrowness and has a cluttered reflection in it. Put a feature mirror opposite the windows to reflect light, perhaps a window style mirror to increase that sense of openness. Have a rug and soften the light fitting. Use light, earthy tones which go with the floor tiles. Use a patterned throw on the bed to attract attention to the bed. Small bedside cabinets with funky knobs would soften the look.

I would paint the whole room an off-white cream color. Floor length colorful patterned curtains. Mount tv on the wall. If it will fit, turn bed 90 degrees so it’s like an oversized daybed. Or get a king bed, fill the entire end of the room with one big comfy nest-like bed. White bedding in multiple textures, maybe a couple colorful throw pillows. You could even put in little twnkle lights or a mesh canopy to really embrace the coziness. Abd add a nighstand and a fluffy rug. Big piece of art on the red wall if it will fit, you could try doing a small chair on the side opposite the nightstand. Hooks on the wall.

I dare say GH could found a lucrative startup with these cool mockups. Should we take a poll about it?

Under the beam is 1.95 beam is 25 cm.

Cushions people either drop on the floor or find a way to make it dirty with what coming out (trying to be as much polite as possible)

Everyone suggest to do rug - but i am very sure i cant do any rug as it will be just dirty and not pleasant to step on

So far plan is:
Move mirror
Put the long light like on your picture and move the current light off the beam
Cover the red wall

Thank you. I cant turn the bed 90 degrees as it doesn’t match about 10 cm - is a queen bed. twinkle lights is a great idea i am not quite sure how to play them but i will find out. How do you keep mesh canopy not dusty?

I wash and vacuum the floors which are hardwood with area rugs between every guest. How do you clean those floors between guests?

@GutHend Do you think if i make horizontal stripes like on your picture with twinkle lights it will work?

i am pretty good with any electric stuff but painting perfect stripe sounds like i am not handy enough to do. Hiring someone is not an option as my room is 17 USD per night and i am renting a house

@Ivan_Joorevic. No one can paint those lines without painter’s tape.

Sorry to say this, but twinkle lights sound a bit tacky :frowning:. Just cover everything that doesn’t need to be painted very well, paint the light base colors first, let them dry, put on blue masking tape paint the stripes and remove at once. I think you don’t have to aim for perfection, just do the best you can and it will be ok.

About the paint, make sure to put on a good base layer. Talk to a specialist.

@anon67190644 just mop and wash, i dont really have a place to keep a vacuum cleaner as room is super small and there is no elevator in the building to keep it on the other floor

@anon67190644 yes i tried to use it before, the result was still the way it can drive perfectionist insane
