Leather or fabric recliner

I’m buying two new reclining chairs for the sitting area. They’re super comfy and of good quality. I have two options, faux leather or fabric. Which is better? Knowing that my Airbnb is in a mild to warm area near the sea. And what about hygiene and durability? Pls share your thoughts

Faux leather all the way. Easier to clean and pet friendly, if that’s your jam. Can be wiped down.

If the fabric isn’t “performance” fabric (Sunbrella or a similar brand), I’d agree with faux leather.

We have an open-air house in the tropics and I just bought new furniture and had it covered with Crypton (almost indestructible fabric). But faux leather would stick to people’s bodies (no A/C) and real leather was too expensive!

Thank you so much. Faux leather is a better option hygiene wise I suppose but my only concern is that it sticks to the skin in hot season and is very cold to the touch in winter. I have a real leather couch at home and it has almost the same problem so I have to cover it sometimes

I find that cleaning my leather chair is much easier. There is a scratch that now shows on the foot rest so that’s something to think about.

You’re right. It sure is. Did you send a claim to Airbnb or let it go?

I let it go. I bought the Ikea chair used for less than $100.

Faux or real leather in a hot climate - I’ve experienced that - and it can be very sticky and sweat-making depending on your skin type! Maybe see if people you know locally have it and whether it’s been successful?
