I fail to see how Airbnb is not able to block the text string “I’m excited to offer my services…” (or variations of that) in a private message for a booking inquiry.
There is blatant spamming going on which is easily avoidable, reducing workload on CS who have to deal with confused hosts who inquire whether this is legit/allowed, blocking phone lines for hosts who actually need help.
This bot filtering you’re describing appears to have been set up by someone who used ChatGPT to create this “AI” filtering by applying the most useless rules to avoid problematic bookings. That person should be fired and someone with actual skills apply working measures against obvious spamming attacks to relieve stress on the CS department.
It’s not rocket science but they apparently have problems getting the right people to get it under control.
I’m a little more kind in my assessment of someone saying they are interested in co-hosting - I think they are naive and consider it a path to becoming a host.
My analague would be “Hi, I’m interested in becoming a plumber. Where can I find a plumber to become an apprentice to?”
But I also would not take a random stranger on with no experience to co-host my property.
What you’re describing is a pretty clumsy attempt in finding an apprenticeship - also I highly doubt that their services would be free, although there is nothing mentioned otherwise.
As you stated why would any host just take on any Joe who turns up as a Co-host?
There is so much wrong and sketchy, I would not touch those people with a ten foot people. Absolutely unprofessional and definitely not up to our standards when it comes to hosting.
They might apply the new technologies when, in phone calls, they ask the parties to agree to be recorded for “training purposes” . They say nothing about who’s the trained entity
I received something like that, some time ago, offering to take good photos of my place.
I declined as I thought they were just looking for somewhere to stay for free.
Lozette, I listened to what Muddy suggested, actually cut and pasted her words and sent them to the chick that was annoying me. I then reported her, told the girl I reported her and then blocked her.
Yes, and it’s quite annoying because Airbnb keep reminding me to reply because they think it’s a legitimate enquiry. I just replied, “No thank. I am not in need.” But life is bad enough with SPAM in your mailbox, now we have to get it on Airbnb too? Ugh.
