I started getting a slew of Fri-Sun stays, so I decided to change a setting such that anyone staying on a weekend night would have to stay a minimum of three nights.
It now so happens that I have two M-F stays in successive weeks, leaving that Fri & Sat night unbooked.
I’ll probably revert that 3-night setting until this gets booked, but I’m wondering how others might either handle this type of situation or prevent it from happening in the first place.
I don’t understand your logic here. Fri-Sun is a very popular weekend option.
If you were getting a lot of bookings why did you want to add an unknown factor?
But yes, change your minimum back to two nights as the trend you describe seems to favor that.
Just change the minimum for those specific weekends to two nights. There’s no way to prevent an occasional Fri/Sat from being open without the consecutive Thurs or Sun as far as I can see. I do 2 night minimums on the weekends but occasionally have a lone Fri or Sat open so I change the requirement to one night on those specific dates to get them booked.
@Arlene is correct. You can set different minimum stays for specific dates. It isn’t obvious on AIRBNB how do to it. But go into your usual booking settings & edit minimum stay. Bookings already confirmed by you will not be affected.
The problem is- you can’t specify a weekend as “must book Friday and Saturday together” which you can with one click on VRBO. It’s a big issue on AirBnB and forces me to have to reject a lot of Saturday/Sunday or Thursday/ Friday bookings.
I just put my Sunday rate as high as my friday, sat rates. Set a 2 night minimum. As a guest I’d not book 3 nights when I only have the sat and Sunday off. I put 3. Day minimums on long holiday weekends, but if you don’t charge extra for the day after, some will book, sat, sun, mon. I lost money on one holiday weekend that way.
Can you tell me how to do this on VRBO? I did some recent testing with a 2 night min. on Sun - Thurs. And a 3 night min. on Friday and Sat. I don’t want to have a specific arrival date set as that will exclude someone from starting their arrival date sooner. But the system allows someone to book the Thurs and Fri and only requires a 2 night min. instead of the 3 night min. I require for Fridays.
If I could specify that Fri and Sat will need to be booked together then maybe that could help some.
