Anyone else found an increase in 3rd party bookings or such attempts? I thought Airbnb was meant to be discouraging these outside of business listings. I don’t want them because there’s no direct documented communication, host guarantee or accountability. I’ve had a few incidences of guests having to pay for their booking error which must be annoying. Also I get the impression many hosts are breaking the rules.
Host guarantee covers guests of the booking party. You are in the business of hosting random people.
Yes, I accept some third party bookings. I stayed in an Airbnb in New Zealand where they flatly stated in the listing the conditions under which they would accept third party bookings.
There are good reasons not to accept them but since I don’t trust Airbnb to have my back anyway, I accept them.
I haven’t seen an increase though.
No increase here in SW Florida…
It’s not really a business of taking in random people at all. Even Airbnb take the side of the host in the case of 3rd party bookings, Airbnb have said on the phone they don’t guarantee 3rd parties. Nothing random if it’s a verified guest with genuine reviews on a genuine profile. That’s the whole point of the sharing economy. If I wanted random I could do it myself without paying a fee to Airbnb.
I just got a third party booking for a private room in my house. The person showed up with the wrong code and didn’t know where to park. He also didn’t know it was a private room. It was apparent when he showed me on his phone the code he was texted. How do I report this to Airbnb? I feel like Airbnb’s support went downhill 1000% after this covid-19 issue. None of the issues I’ve messaged them have gotten a reponse.
Well that’s going to be tough because 3rd party bookings are in violation of their policies. So they don’t have to help you or the guest. I’m unclear about what you want them to do anyway.
Hello all,
sorry that my message is totally off topic but I am new in this forum and looking for information/instructions/ rules or whatsoever which helps to start a new topic:)
My sincere apologies - I have some questions that were not discussed previously, so I am thinking to strat a new topic but cannot find how to do this. Thank you in advance:)
I’m glad the person left. Can they get rid of their profile? I’m assuming it’s not the first time they did that.
Also I’ve been getting weird bookings from local people who want cheaper bookings. How do I prevent this from happening? Make it 2 nights min and keep prices low or increase the price and keep it 1 night min? Or just not let locals book at all? I’ve had bad experiences with locals but don’t want to discriminate…
