No, unless they’re done Peruvian or Ecuadorian style

People used to go inside before the days of flush toilets and heave it out the window. There were outhouses in the boonies.
I’ve heard of some cats that have been trained to use a toilet.
I’m thinking of asking my guests if I can put the cat box in their quarters.

Yes, and in those days a well fed cat would end up on the dinner table, within some strata’s of the population.

I wish we could get some barn cats, they are nature savvy and could delish the rodents. Unfortunately the coyotes and raptors could get them too, unless they have a fancy cat house. I’m not sure a barn cat adopt company would consider us. We have some retarded birds here too that always build nests in a bad place and the baby birdlets fall out. Maybe natural selection is not working???
To keep rodents away, sprinkle used cat litter around the perimiters of the property. My neighbors had squirrels in their attic and I gave them a used cat litter box to keep up there and it worked!
We had a mouse enter the property and poop on a pillow in the 1 hour between the cleaners leaving and guest arrival. The house is in the Country, next to a pond, and it was getting cooler. No signs of mice prior to the cleaning. I was out of State, traveling. The cleaners went over to the property, changed all bedding, disinfected all surfaces. I was so stressed out trying to coordinate everything plus our travels, forgot to offer any type of refund.
The guest left a 5 star rating & glowing review. She told me in private feedback that she was so impressed with how I handled it, the cleaners actions, etc. And she will come stay in the future.
Something out of our control is bound to happen sooner than later. Don’t sweat it. Even if you get 1 bad review, unless it’s extreme, your business will survive.
It is stressful in that moment though.
Any chance you could post a link to one?
@PitonView we bought a Litter-Robot (should come up in a search).
I’m sure I will be judged on the price, but it truly makes our life better, so I’m impervious.
I’m sure the UPS man would love to bring over some used kitty litter from your place
Why I don’t have livestock.
I honestly don’t know what it is or what it’s called. It has these removeable, disposable trays that all the cat poop falls into, so you never have to scoop anything, and some filter so it doesn’t smell. I’ll ask my daughter.
My daughter pooped in the corner of the kitchen once. Managed to pull her diaper off w/o me seeing. We kept her. Taught her to poop in a box in front of the TV, then moved it to the bathroom. Eventually got her to the permanent potty.
There are 6 of us and we all poop in a ceramic box (have more than one actually) in our house. No cats (can’t do it) and although I know pretty much everyone here despised it, my 5 lb dog has his own place indoors too. Would like to let him out every time but he’s an amuse bouche for the hawks and foxes here so I won’t risk it no matter how much I get raked over the coals. Let the grilling begin. Been sitting on that truth for awhile…glad to tell my T finally ![]()
@PitonView The one my daughter has is called Scoop Free.
This sounds like a host having a nightmare, lol. Before I was a host, I once had a cat who ALWAYS threw up if my guests stayed overnight. It got to the point that dinner guests would greet the cat and say “Don’t worry, we are not staying over”. Thank goodness that passed well before I became a host.
Not a wholesome response. Ewww
Well thanks all for the kind words and a few laughs thrown in. Never expected the debates about cats.
The guest was here for two weeks - we had some lovely chats over that time. He just left his review - 5 stars across the board! I’m pleased but a bit flabbergasted
Just to clarify for those wondering - the cats are not allowed in the apartment at the back of our house, but they are fascinated by the forbidden door. Sometimes they sneak through and it has always just been a matter of shooing them back, while they glare at me for ruining their whole life. I suspect one of them snuck past while I was carrying a stack of sheets or pillows. Never before or since has there been a poop out of place. And no, the litter box is not in my kitchen
.
Thanks for all your reassurances - I’m crawling out from under my rock now. I imagine both me and my guest will have a story forever.
In medieval Europe it was called a garderobe. Now it’s called a water closet, bathroom, loo, etc. One of the most disgusting animals is definitely the the human.
Many people have viscerally negative reactions to various domestic pets. Some people are freaked out by reptiles; some by rats, some by birds. All those animals typically urinate and defecate inside. And large parrots will destroy everything you own if you let them outside their cages, lol.
Well I don’t consider reptiles, rats or birds to be animals that should qualify as pets. To cage a bird is just cruel, IMO, anyone who thinks their reptile is somehow bonded to them is delusional, and rodents should running around outside doing things rodents do.
Sure, lots of people don’t. My point was that many animals urinate and defecate in “boxes” inside.
