Hi Everyone, I’m in south florida and always struggled to find reliable Airbnb cleaners. Started with apps but didn’t like the bidding wars and having to post my project first for cleaners to find me. I also tried facebook groups but not great luck. Now I’m trying this app called kwickturn that, so far so good, it’s like an ‘amazon’ type of experience, so I don’t have to go through the bidding war stuff and I’m the one choosing the cleaners.
But… it’s 2024 and there got a be a good way to find cleaners, I don’t even do same day turnovers so far because I’m afraid the cleaner won’t show up. How do you all manage that side of the business?
I do my own cleaning- I just have a private room rental. But someone doesn’t have to be a professional cleaner in order to clean- they just have to know how to clean thoroughly and be attentive to detail.
Do you know any of your neighbors? There might be someone in your neighborhood who would like to earn some money and have a flexible schedule to accommodate irregular cleaning. An active retired senior, a stay at home mom whose kids might be at least in half-day kindergarten, someone who works online from home, a college student.
You would probably have to train them, and show them how you like things set-up, but sometimes one has to do that with “professional” cleaners, too.
I got tired of trying to find cleaners. It’s take about 1 1/2 hours to clean my suite (not a full kitchen) and I had trouble trying to find cleaners to work around my openings and to not charge me a more than $75 (What I charge to guests).
I did have some success posting on my local community Facebook page. Perfect gig for moms with kids in school but half the time, I had to pick them up.
Eventually I got tired of all the hassles and just started to clean the suite myself. It can be a pain because I have to work around guests checkout before I can start my day but overall I’m more satisfied with the cleaning and less hassle. Good luck
The trouble with ‘cleaners’ is that if you look for cleaners as such, you’re unlikely to get people who will prepare the rental to your standard (and certainly Airbnb’s standard).
You may attract people who are used to turning over hotel rooms—a very different thing from preparing an Airbnb rental. You may also attract people who think, ‘Well, cleaning is easy enough’ and look for cleaning jobs simply because many employers won’t ask for references or even experience.
Like others here, I do the cleaning myself. Although I have used cleaners in the past (briefly) I have never found anyone who prepares the apartments as well as I do. despite giving bonuses for exceptional reviews etc.
If you’re not on the spot to clean your rental yourself, then make it the responsibility of your co-host - either doing it themselves or overseeing a third party.
