How often do you replace or buy more TOWELS?

We all know we have to put money into our buissness to keep them up.
But i wonder how often do you guys replace or buy more towels. You know towels get the wear and tear, dirty, missing , and just plain old. So how often do you guys decide its time for new towels ?
And how much do you spend?
And i use only WHITE towels because i can bleach them clean and i think they just look cleaner to guests.

Six months to a year for us. All white here too…bleach for sanitation and cleanliness. If anything starts looking shabby, it’s pulled and ends up in our linen closet. Sad, good enough for us, but not good enough for our guests! We probably have eight full sets back there and I’ll replace them two or four at a time. I like that plush, super clean look.

Yes all white here as well. Tend to but in sales and sometimes when needed. I just had to buy some new ones as we have had back to back bookings of families with three kids. Bought some for AUS$5, usually spend more though. Also just looked at some and though they are ready for my linen cupboard.

I rent out a crash pad that I use during the week. For towels, guests get the ones my wife didn’t want at home anymore. They are fine, but some don’t match. Have not had a single negative comment.

Every six months or so. I like threshold brand from Target. Right now they have a great sale. $25 off for every $100 you spend. January and August/September are the times to buy linens and towels.

We don’t use all white towels. We use a variety of hues that match the decor in the bathroom. In our case that’s white, grey, beige, navy and a taupe color. Our guests like how they look together in the basket where we store them and I can judge how likely the guest is to be the kind of person who would prefer white towels or the kind of person who is likely to leave make-up or other stuff on the white towels. Ladies traveling together from “The City” for a weekend of museum-going, or people attending weddings do not get white towels or sheets.

We have had to replace one towel so far. (18 months) and that was because a couple with a baby found bleach in the suite and for some reason that baffles us, used it and got it on a blue towel. There is no fixing that. We have since made sure that nothing that stains or that could possibly be corrosive or destructive, is left available to guests.

I have had to use hydrogen peroxide, oxy cleaning products, baking soda or bleach on occasion but we feel like we have it more or less under control, towels are fluffy, they look new, (we like Martha Stewart from Macy’s for towels) The best bathmats we have are Threshold, from Target - we have half a dozen of those, they are very similar to the bath rugs sold at a much more expensive store, and we’re thinking of buying more because they’re really perfect. Our towels still look new. We don’t plan to buy new towels this year.

I am very grateful to have the washing machine that came with the house when we bought it because it is an older top-loading machine and that means I can stop it and soak things for hours, even overnight - which I have also done. Our washing machine at home is a front-loader and while it is much more energy efficient, it doesn’t allow for soaking.

I think it’s important to have a few touches that make the place feel luxurious.

And we took the advice of so many hosts and bought all white, high quality sheets for our beds. We’re never doing it again - from now on, we are color coding our sheet sets and we will be buying new sheets much earlier than planned because white is such a bad choice for us. But this is not the place to talk about that.

I prefer white, and was using white for the reasons you mentioned (bleach) up until a few months ago. I had bought brand new ones, and one of the first few guests got make-up stains on them that won’t come off. Since that, I’ve moved to darker colors.

We had another guest get hair dye in the white towel and turn it red, luckily that all came out though.

Exactly, and I haven’t bought peanut butter since.
