How often do you clean comforters?

I have been told by my cleaning person that some property managers in the area almost never wash them. Gross! I know hotels don’t do it after each guest as well… How often do you wash them?

I wash them between each and every guest.

Seems like that’s the way to do it but my cleaners charge me $80 extra for the 4 comforters.

I have inexpensive fairly thin comforters that fit in my washing machine.

Mine are very heavy winter ones, at a ski resort so have to be. I still wash them quite often, my cleaner says more than any place he works for.

Duvets are quite warm, you can get different weights, then the covers are easily washed. I sew a loop at the top corners of the duvet and ribbon in the upper corners of the duvet cover, using contrasting ribbon to help find the ribbon when you need to tie it. This keep the duvet neatly inside the cover.

At least 2 x a month. After every guest that brings a pet. And when I can smell anything. It gets hung up in the sun. We probably have 4 guests a month per room.

Like @EllenN I have thin, summers weight quilts on the beds that are inexpensive & easily washed.

I try to wash them between guests & have two for each bedroom so I can make the bed and not be rushed for wash/dry time between guests. Until a few weeks ago I had one quilt for each bed & found the wash/dry time too long for easy unit cleaning & turnover.

After almost every guest. We have had some guests nicely fold them and put them in the dresser along with the matching sham-covered pillows, rather than get them dirty. We have two sets of everything so turning the cabana around in a couple hours is a snap.

I wash them every time, between every guest. Anything that guests touch with their bare skin gets washed. I have puffy poly-fill comforters for winter and thinner cotton/polly or polly quilted toppers for summer, fall + spring. (I’m near Los Angeles, California so it stays warm most of the year) I don’t like putting duvets in and out of covers so I chose to go the comforter and quilted cover route. These all fit in my top loading washer and dry fairly fast too. After almost 4 years of hosting I have at least 2 comforters and 2 quilt toppers for each of my 3 rooms so change overs go smoothly.
