Hi, everyone. I am actually a guest right now although when I’m home I’m an Airbnb host. I hope you will let me ask this question here because you all have offered me good advice in the past.
We are on vacation in Costa Rica and we have to cut our Airbnb stay short by two days. We have tried to figure out how to do this as guests And haven’t been able to figure it out. The host says we have to do it on our end. We don’t have a phone for calling Airbnb, just WhatsApp. Anyone know how we can do this? Thanks in advance.
PS, as a host I would like to know this as well so I can advise our guests if it comes up.
If you don’t expect to be refunded for the last 2 days of your booking, there really isn’t any need to cancel or change the booking. Just leave it as is.
Unless the host thinks they can get a last minute booking for the cancelled days and intends to double dip.
Also, the host is incorrect, they can send you a request to amend the dates for you to approve. But of course they can’t cancel those dates, or they would receive penalties.
You don’t need to call Airbnb even if you want to cancel or amend. If you have whatsapp, I assume you have a Wifi connection. You can access the Airbnb site on your laptop, if you have one with you, or use the Airbnb phone app, or just sign in on your phone using the browser, not the app, if you don’t use it.
Then go to your reservation and amend the dates, which the host will have to accept on their end. (They will get a notification to do this.)
