@KKC.
I see what you did there.
It seems this topic has gone to the dogs?
A drunken off topic toast to the dogs!!! Adorbs Pugs!!!
Bella the Beauty…The unique Hideaway, and a beautiful hiking companion…If you find yourself at the Tiny Tiki Retro Hideaway, you will meet a resident princess who watches over her domain with pride. You will also hear her defending it from occasional walkers by, rare motorcycles and numerous coyotes. Sometimes the Neighborhood Canine Brethren Chorus can be quite vocal.
When you pass down the short trail from the Hideaway, Bella will let us know you are at our gate, showing great enthusiasm and rambunctiousness. She might plant a surprise smooch upon your cheek without touching you with her paws. It is just her lips and a little tongue. Of course, if you like we will keep her out of your way completely.
She was mine. I “foster” German Shepherd dogs", and she was superb! Anyway, keep up the good work!
The beer or the tea bags?
Definitely definitely the beer
This has been well worth the catch-up. Plus my faith in humanity crept back up a point or two.
(Yes, I want to continue this old conversation.)
I recently stayed at the TTRH and as a service to the community I thought I’d share my assessment. As I feared, there was precious little to criticize.
Its location is as listed and the description is accurate, the communication was top notch, it was perfectly clean, the check in was flawless, and for my dollars, it’s a great value. I didn’t however have a welcome bunny. I had welcome lizards. I don’t know how @gypsy knew that I prefer lizards to bunnies but it is what it is.
One of the most pleasing things is that everything isn’t "hotel perfect. " It’s a vintage trailer that took me back to my childhood. Everything functions and is in good repair but it doesn’t look like they gutted a relic to make an Airbnb, it looks and feels like a
3-D snapshot of a bygone era.
This is a hosted Airbnb. There’s no self check in and no skipping the tour. You are made to feel like an old friend but with no loss of privacy if you want that. It’s a magical place that’s a world away from the world it’s in. On top of all that, it’s a work in progress. So it and the surrounding property is being tweaked and improved inviting return visits.
If I could change anything it would probably just be to try to make it even more vintage. I fear replacing plastic ice trays with vintage aluminum ones and the cuisnart coffeemaker with a glass pour over or a percolator might not suit most guests.
Friendly lizard greeter
Two owls (and two glass insulators) on the power pole at the property

Peacocks in the morning on my way down the mountain
Well there’s a first for me: White catbird! Is it albino or just white?
Thank you Dusty for your stay and this beautiful note and photos. It was great to meet you and have you as a guest! I love the photo of the owls:) There are dozens of peacocks below us in the unincorporated Chatsworth Lake Manor, and white (I’m guessing albino as its skin and eyes are pink) ones. The one in photo is a getting to be a mature male.
I had looked for the old metal ice trays and might get some, but I guess I just needed something right then for cubes!
Trying to improve guest experience is an ongoing task including tweeking stuff, adding stuff, sewing and woodwork and all so that it will remain nice after uses. May 1 the winter tarps come off the romantic outdoor bed and gazebo, and the rest of the furniture is coming out then too. It’s a harsh environment so stuff like outdoor lighting is challenging.
You didn’t mention the VIEW, Dusty:::: maybe you were happily reading inside or having a beer with us on our porch…Thanks again for coming:)
You didn’t mention the VIEW, Dusty
Oh, I could have gone on and on about the delights of your place. But the view is disclosed in the listing and it’s just as promised. It’s just about as perfect as it could be IMHO.
Thanks again for hosting me. I hope others here will be able to do the same someday.
welcome bunny
That’s funny. Funny Bunny.
“The physics behind holes in the time-space continuum that cause guests to arrive well after they said they would.”
I had one set of guests arrive EXACTLY on time – Germans.
Ah, this post reminds me of the good old days (almost a year ago!!!) when the biggest threat was someone like Don Burns.
As an update, I almost made my goal of another 100 reviews in a year. Looks like I won’t quite make it to 600 before my 6 year anniversary.
I am So glad to see you made it there afterall!
I just had one show up at exactly 6pm as well after she said she would probably arrive around 6pm. Funny thing tho is she never did give me the heads up I requested and the comforter was still in the dryer.
I had had a hard time and accidentally took a nap that afternoon before making up the bed and realized that there had been a blood stain On the mattress pad I hadn’t seen before and needed to relaunder! She had been great tho and is going home on weekends. She’s only staying in my private room listing while she is doing her nursing residency M-W nearby.
