Hardest part of hosting?

Its not about money, though i am sure i will see the difference in my bill with this guy around, and though i told him about laundry, i am not going to tell him how many showers a day he can take. Its about a behaviour that makes no sense to people who dont have OCD. He washes his absolutely clean and freshly washed body every few hours.Between second and third shower there is hardly 4 hours. Nothing can convinse me that its not obsessive behavior. And it is a huge waste of water to run shower 1 hour a day.

While I have met many people who shower a lot and clearly don’t have OCD, people with OCD are protected from discrimination under the Americans With Disabilities Act.

SO… what are you saying this time?

Oh-oh, you’re going on a trip…which means Mr. OCD Engineer will once again have free reign to use the washer daily for 2-3 pieces of clothing!

I’ll bet he’s counting down the hours.

I have another guest at home who will tell me ,hehe.

Oh no…what happens if the other guest rats him out for excessive laundry usage? Mr OCD is going to know he was tattled on…lol!

Do you think he has a sweat or body odor issue…and he keeps it at bay by showering that often? If he still smells fresh when he comes home in the afternoon…then I would say he does not have any kind of body issue. If he can go 10 hours at work without showering and still smells fresh…it does seem odd to then take 2 additional showers within a few hours.

Is he going to dinner with a lady, and then going to back to her place to get busy…then he feels he needs to shower again?? - lol. He would have to be getting lucky every single night.

That’s wasting water no matter how you look at it. I would talk to him and tell him the showering is excessive. It’s disrespectful.

I do not know if he has a girlfriend, he is fliritng with me at the moment, hehehe.
He actually smells very good, uses expensive perfume.
He has a very monotonus schedule. I know exactly what he is doing every day. he comes home every day at 5, and within seconds i hear water running, then he goes to his room and stays there till 7:30,then he goes for dinner, back at 9 pm, and shower again. Then at 10:30 lights are out.SO, you can see how i never see him at all, only hear his showers

My mom lives in Dana Point – where most of the neighborhood has converted to xeriscape drought-tolerant plants due to the ongoing drought–and if I showered for 20 minutes three times a day (an hour total) like Yana’s guests, my mom wouldn’t be happy.

Maybe he’s a gigolo and engineer is just his cover job. He wants to be clean for all his clients?

That’s probably me using my imagination too much. OCD is more likely.

Neh, he is not cute enough for a gigolo hehe

Definitely the winner! And better there than on the sofa

Cleaning.

But it is also the best part because I used to be a lot more depressed because I was always worried about how dirty my house was. The depression left me not caring. However, I need the money that I get from hosting, so necessity made me clean the house. And honestly, I’m so much happier. Lol it helped my depression!!! And I sure have learned a lot about how to clean efficiently and cheaply. It’s been kind of a pain but not really a big deal.

Egggads. Yana said he was not that cute!

That’s okay…it’s all in the interest of solving this mystery.

20 mins 3 x’s a day is just wasteful regardless on water supplies/power costs. My kids would love such long showers but we have a 5 min rule and after that I switch off the hot water. Funny how a quick blast of cold gets them to change that habit.
Sounds like he’s becoming too familiar in all areas!. I’d update that list and tell him if he can’t abide by them he has to go.

Wow… I’m so glad I operate a separate whole house listing. Otherwise, I would be sensitive to people’s habits such as how many times they shower, for how many minutes, and what they do in there. And whether they put their shoes away, whether they eat in the kitchen or not, etc.
People from different parts of the world just have different daily habits. Some may not correspond to my habits. And that’s just fine. I think it’s just part of hosting. You can either set a price that is worth it for you to put up with these little irritations, or you can stop becoming irritated by these things, or just don’t host! If I operated a shared house listing, of course I would set some ground rules, but I would not want to be too restrictive because hey, they are our guests and they are on vacation.

So Mr.OCD is a Master Masturbator? I love the way these threads evolve, where they may go, one never knows.

It’s a good thing we don’t have people leave the forum because threads wander in strange directions…
