Handling a cancellation

I have a strict policy on cancelling; I had someone email me this morning saying they wanted to cancel their reservation in Oct. I told them THEY would have to initiate the cancellation as it would negatively affect me. Since its so far off in the future I dont mind giving their money back; if it was next week I wouldnt. Does airbnb charge them the service fee when they cancel a reservation? Im not sure what to tell them. Thx
