I’ve never received a tip, but I’ve had guests leave a nice local bottle of wine, a soap from a nice store, and all the leftovers we could eat. We rent out our entire home.
One week recently I got a total of ninety dollars in tips from a total of three groups. I’ve also had a guest who had had a good win at the local casino and he gave me $100

After 1 month of hosting, I had a nice older couple leave me a $40 tip with a handwritten note to take myself to dinner. It was such a lovely surprise!

My last gorgeous family left us 2 chocolates and 4 little pots of honey.

My last gorgeous Chinese tourists left us 16 yen in one yen coins. Yay.

In 2 years has not happened to me yet… though often guests leave behind food and other items they don’t want to keep with them, especially if they were there for a longer stay.
My guests sign my guest book leaving lovely notes of thanks … Some leave wine great seasons they. Used to cook with and a gave me a paring knife to peel skin off veggies which I did not have … Most guest clean bathroom bring linen and towels down stairs empty trash … Some cook invite me to dinner and have ordered pizza … Two returned home and started their own bnb … And most are now my Facebook friends and send me nites from time to time
