old post but adding to it! Hello, I wanted to give some perspective as I am currently trying to book myself and coworkers for work travel. We are City government and tax-exempt for lodging. Airbnb is telling me to reserve or make the booking then following I can submit for tax reimbursement with our city tax ID number. If I don’t do this as an employee then I myself would have to pay the taxes if the taxes were not refunded. I don’t think he’s trying to cheat the system or anything. He was wrong in what he did but should have messaged prior to booking. Hope that info helps. since this post is old.
