Guest arrived a week early. The bnb was available so I said we would have to adjust booking first. She agreed but wanted to use bathroom and move some things in first. She said she was unwell and wanted to hurry to visit her daughter. I showed her another bathroom to use not in bnb.
Then still wanting to move stuff in, I said airbnb would want me to fix booking first.
Eventually she said she would cancel and get a motel as she wasn’t well enough to fiddle around. Didn’t even have the airbnb app on her phone.
After she left, and she did cancel (I have flexible cancellation policy) I wondered if this was a scam, to get to stay on nights not booked, and then cancel and get full refund.
Maybe just as well I did insist on fixing the booking before admission.
Has anyone had this experience?
What a weird situation! You can set it not to give guests your address until 48 hours before check-in.
I don’t let ‘guests’ on the property without a confirmed reservation.
Thanks Xena. I just did that now.
… but she was well enough to search out a motel and “fiddle around” at their front desk getting set up.
Scam or nutbar.
Nutjob I suspect. I can’t see how it’s really a scam - it seems a lot of trouble to go to for a free stay.
I’m surprised that the OP said that the guest could stay in the first place. How did the guest know that there wouldn’t be someone in residence? And I don’t get the bathroom thing.
