Hear ya. We can sleep five. Listing says suitable for a small family - 325 square feet. So a guy books with 3 children. They may be his ‘children’ but each weighed over 200 pounds and they complained that the suite was really small. They only stayed one night. Whew.
Sounds like you can sleep 2 comfortably, why would you encourage 5? Seems like just asking for issues. 325 SF is too small for 5 people, they would never be comfortable IMO

My insurance won’t cover anyone under 19.
There are many places in the world where people are accustomed to sharing much smaller spaces than those in first world countries would consider to be sufficient.
Fair enough.
My reasoning comes from the perspective of a first world host I guess. I do not want to stuff my cabins with extra people. I recently had a direct booking for 2 people in my 600 SF cabin which has a max of 2 guests allowed. A few days after booking the guest asks about the stairs, are they safe for a toddler… A few emails later I finally get the truth out of her that they were a family of 4 and were planning on bringing an Airbed. I cancelled the booking.

Agreed. Infants leave more of a mess than some adults. I had a family with an infant last week and they used 5 sets of linens and left diapers all over-by the pool, On the couch, in the kitchen garbage. I hate that Airbnb is so focused on the guest and the hosts are not supported. They are nothing without hosts.
Ya gotta wonder…If that’s the way they conduct themselves in someone else’s place, what kind of dump to they live in at home?
Probably fit to be condemned.
Am I the only one who looked at this topic and thought it meant that giant infants were rechargeable?
A frightening prospect.
Agree 100%. Our house, our rules. We can always tell a guest or Air “sorry but my insurance will not allow that”. Boom - problem solved.
Excuse me? What is your point in responding this way? Is this more of your trolling of my posts?
Everything I say isn’t germane to my particular listing. I live in Mexico where it’s quite common for 5 people to live in a space that people in other parts of the world would consider only big enough for 2. That was my point. That not all cultures have the same concept of adequate space.

NYC too
Let’s try and get this thread back on track, thank you everyone who flagged the recent posts that were out of line. I think that things will improve going forward.

that’s so true to life gave a good laugh thank you
i never understood why guests either 1 - feel the need to lie about whom is coming, 2 - not actually search properly for a listing that allows children (or pets if thats the case) and 3 - feel that they are so important that the rules laid out don’t apply to them.
its very frustrating how entitled some people are when a little common curtesy and respect goes a long way to a more positive experience for all
