Florida - need some advice

I had no trouble booking upon my iPad . I did contact potential hosts asking one question which they all answered promptly . The Travel/host switch isn’t intuitive. I would prefer to have two profiles, one for Travel one for host .

We are back to our real life, having had our first AirBNB experience. Her reviews were not great and there were a number of red flags contained within them. So, we brought our own coffee drip device, own pillows, were prepared to buy toilet paper and other basic items. The apartment was in a great location. It was clean, and this very “green” host has taken the criticism to heart and many standard items were provided. The space was basically clean, but it was not prepared in any way. Her cleaning person clearly doesn’t have a check list. There were only two mugs and one no longer had a handle making it impossible to hold while a hot beverage was inside. There were no fry pans but there were 7 spatulas. There were three mixing bowls, but no casserole or cookie sheets. It was a total miss-mosh, probably what was in the apartment when she bought it. However, overall, it was not a bad stay though pillow top beds are HORRIBLE!!! Our backs are still recovering. I know some folks swear by them; I swear at them. So here is my very honest review:

We are just home from spending two nights at M.'s apartment [edited]. We received self check in instructions the night before our arrival and they were easy to follow. The apartment is quite large for a two room suite, and the space is very clean. The location can not be beat. Head one way on Las Olas and you will find a fabulous French bakery with amazing croissants and the beach; go the other way and you are headed to some good restaurants and the Stranahan House. Clearly M. is learning as she becomes more experienced as a host. She has added a Mr. Coffee machine. There were several rolls of toilet paper, along with a lovely display of individual sized bathroom toiletries. In the kitchen, there was dish soap, washing machine pods, dishwasher detergent, and paper towels. We discovered that one of the two mugs had been broken and were unable to locate a fry pan and M. was quick to respond with suggestions as where the missing fry pan might be. [There used to be two!] She was upset that these two items were a problem, but we assured her that we could certainly manage. There are small things that could be done easily with this space to take it from a good experience to a great one. And with some investments in furniture and artwork, the living room could become a great end-of-the-day retreat. [The following is a list of amenities we found at the apartment [edited] that are not indicated in her listing: hangars, pool, private entrance, and iron.] We truly wish M. the best as an AirBNB host. She is off to a great start.

The location is fabulous.

In the eighties, Fort Lauderdale suffered because it was a spring break destination which put off a lot of families and regular visitors.

But these days we are attracting visitors who appreciate the wonderful views, the lovely beach, the fabulous restaurants & stores plus the history of this unique (and I use that word advisedly) location.
