My insurance rider only allows for 2 guests so that would be a hard no for me.

Another option would be to charge extra for the guests.

Personally, if it’s too much of a crowd, give the guests the option of find a new place for the extra guests and if they won’t budge, then talk to CS and say they are breaking your house rules and want their reservation cancelled per your cancellation policy. NO refunds.

I have in my house rules that showing up with extra guests or guests who are not pre-approved can result in immediate cancellation of the reservation. If you do contact CS, be prepared to answer how you know they have extra and if it’s on camera, but sure you have disclosed them fully.

Before I accept a booking, I ask potential guests how many occupants the booking would be for. Most guests indicate 1 guest but as I have discovered over the years, most guests do not fill this in accurately or want to host friends and family during once they arrive. Its actually quite frustrating. So I came up with a short questionnaire . They need to fill out a short questionnaire whereby they must state who the booking is for and that they must agree to pay the additional charges should they have any overnight guests. That’s one way of handling it. I feel like this is the most difficult management issue I run into and it comes up often. Unfortunately many of the guests are not honorable and try to sneak in extra guests.

I’d probably politely but firmly remind them of the maximum guest rule and explain that, unfortunately, the extra people can’t stay. It’s awkward, but you gotta stick to your guns. I saw some people request to pay extra for each member outside the maximum range.
