No. You don’t have to crawl inside. Just do as @mirrabucca describes above.
Ah, I’m only 5’5" so instead of lifting and shaking I lay it all out with the cover inside out, tie the corners, then roll it up and turn it back right-side-in which is how I thought everyone did it but then again, everyone I know who cleans is pretty short like me !

I’m about the same height as you (maybe a half inch more) but I do the lift-and-shake. Mind you, the beds in our rentals and the one in our own home are all queen sized so not enormous.
