Does everyone verify their ID- it’s a bit vague- do you have a choice? I did, so I could get guests ID# (which is says you have to do first)- and submitted drivers license- then it asked for camera photo ID- now where does this photo ID go- on my profile? It doesn’t say-though I did read you can remove it after some bookings which seems to imply it goes on your profile? I don’t really want some bad dark dingy photo on my profile… So thought I’d ask before doing so… Tried to install the app to try that- but it forced me to create an apple ID- and then it wouldn’t take my password!!!- so I’m giving up on that frustrating process. It seems like setting up a profile never ends! Have others found setting up their account easy? Or did I wrongly assume this… So much to learn, to study, to ask…And it’s not that user friendly. It is taking me forever.
The photo goes on your profile. Yes, it is visible to all.
Stop trying to do this through the phone app. Use the desktop version on your laptop. Many things work better that way and it’s a bigger screen, so easier to see and navigate. Upload your photo to your computer and then to your account.
Ah geez… great… lol… so you have no choice- you can’t upload a nice one you are forced to use the photo from your computer camera?..
I think we misunderstood each other. I have a profile picture- my professional photographer friend took that I’m happy with. But when I went to verify my ID- it asked me to upload my drivers license, THEN the next window required me to check EITHER take a webcam photo OR an 'app photo"- … is it safe to just hit NEXT (will it allow me to upload my own)? I was afraid the computer would snap a shot from my webcam I’d be forced to use? to make sure it is really me? (maybe I"m overthinking)…
Turn off your webcam and see if you can upload the photo you like from your computer. I’ve never done the verify ID thing, so I’m just guessing.

To verify the photo ID matches you, they need the webcam pic. You can upload a a separate profile pic separately.

I don’t think there is anything to hide when doing what you are doing- it’s just an internal Airbnb verification. It isn’t going to appear anywhere, just like the ID you upload isn’t visible to anyone but Airbnb.
