Does wudu have to be done in a sink or bathroom?

Hey all, had a lady stay with me for several months. Several times a day , i had to pop into the guest bathroom as the floor was soaking wet. I always have 2 or 3 spare towels for drying but they were never used. I have two muslim guests due and wondered would a basin be sufficient or does it have to be fresh running water. Does anyone know ? Thanks in advance

Wudu is ritual washing before prayer

From Wikipedia:

A handful of mustahabb (recommended) acts that are considered to make the wuḍūʾ better. If one of these acts is omitted, the wuḍūʾ is still considered valid.

Reciting the shahadah after the ablution.
During wuḍūʾ one should not engage in worldly talk.
Choosing a clean place for ablution.
Not wasting water in ablution.

So in theory, your guests should be careful about splashing water around.

Thanks a mill

She obviously missed that talk from her parents, wet cold Ireland, water does not dry up, had to use clothes or kitchen wipes every day, it was a pain. Have new guests today and they are muslims and checked the bathroom and all good. I put on my profile we welcome everybody, all colours, sexuality, religions and I swear, have never been busier and getting to meet some pretty cool people

It can be done in sand also if water is not near.

I have had this problem with s series of guests and eventually I just started saying something the first time I noticed excessive water on the floor. I usually just ask that the guest is careful not to get the floor wet.

I’m in London and like your situation… it doesn’t dry if left on the floor.

Was it unintentional splash or did they flood the floor on purpose? :astonished:

Wudu can be done in any sink. The splash is unintentional. I can see why it would bother you to have on your floor.

I would just put floor mats to absorb the water. Simply mention to your guests to please have the floor clear from water splash.

ah bless her she lived a very pampered life, no concept of cleaning, cooking, washing or living independently she was 24. Put hot food straight into the fridge, put loads of organic salt into her food one day as "“organic” meant healthy so the more you put in the better. We have a drying mat in the bathroom plus two bathroom towels for her use and then 2 bath towels in her room. Everyday was like a little pond, we mentioned it loads of times and she would say, that was not me, its her own bathroom, we just gave up after a month and cleaned up, pick your battles. Apart from being messy she was nice.

2 muslims just gone and floor was spotless, they used the towels in the bathroom which were changed everyday and not a drop on the floor. A young couple in love, so nice to see

In hot countries the water and towels probably dry in minutes, not in wet winter in Ireland.
